Removing Alternator

Hi all,

I'm having some isssues getting the rear bolt undone on an alternator.

The alternator in question is rooted and getting replaced, but i can't get the rear bolt undone, i've sprayed it with some WD40 and let it soak and then tried it, but to no avail.

Does anyone have any "Tips or Tricks" to help get this :bad-words: bolt off.

Currently in a nissan pathfinder, the Z24 "twinspark" engine

Its starting to annoy me quite a lot with its refusal to relinquish its hold to the engine.

maybe try and tap a smaller socket onto it
breaker bar on the end of the ratchet/spanner
alternative access from underneath?
chisel and BFH?
take it to your mechanic to crack and then remove later yourself (i have done this a few times for things that have done my head in!)
double check ... righty tighty, lefty loosey!

yeah i've been in and seen my mechanic, he's more than happy for me to bring it in on the hoist and have a crack at it there.

tried from underneath, can't actually get onto it form the top, well you can but not with anything tha could provide leverage.

its really in a prick of a spot, you can't actually see where you put the socket unless you get yur head up round the ifs and look over the top of the drivers side part of the axle.

i think i might just take it in, my mechanic loves it, one of the few 4wd's he services that actually gets dirty. Also bad though, last time it was serviced he found grass growing up in the chassis/engine bay area
