AIRBOX SHAPE? NEED HELP

Post by KYSI »

Hey just need to make an air box that runs a 4 inch inlet and 4 inch outlet snorkel is the inlet and the outlet goes into the turbo, just wandering what shape it should be, im running out of space and was gonna make a nice small sized rectangle one using 2 air filters from a commodore, but will the square edges effect the air flow?

Do you need a 4" pipe from airbox to turbo? Must be a massive donk!

You could use a round Hilux/Rocky airbox, modding for a 3" or 4" inlet from snorkel, but as the inside of the filter is only ~3.5" it would be no good for a 4" pipe coming out of it.

i can roll and weld a cylinder at work so i will most likely just find a small filter to suit the size of area

The A310 Hilux air filter from Ryco has in internal diameter of 88mm... if that works it's very cheap and easy to get.

Unique Metal Products - as sold by Wizard Performance - there's an ad in this months Dirtcomp.

4" in and out, Donaldson design and element.

The real problem is that a small filter won't really do the job - filter area is the key. High intake velocity and small filters = poor performance.
