shackle bolt dimensions
shackle bolt dimensions
Hey, i'm wondering if anyone knows the dimensions of the shackle bolts on a sierra. The big (shank) side in particular. I am wanting to make extended shackles and want to know what sizes to drill the holes.
thanks
thanks
*Cough* sorry, Suzuki use a 13mm pin, but as you can't buy a 13mm bolt, 1/2" will do fine (12.7mm)
Sorry to nit pick, I'm not having a go, just clarifying.

if it was made in japan to jap specs, then it will be metric. like everything else on your car.
on that note, i used 1/2" bolts too.

Here's my topic from a few weeks ago. I used 1/2" bolts in 13mm holes.

out of (dis)interest.. there are a few imperial (actually SAE) fasteners on sierras.... the seatbelt bolts are made to an SAE standard, not metric. All cars use the same bolt size. (It's a bit over 1/2" from memory, and roughly UNF)

The springs are 50mm wide, so you'll need more than that to allow for the thickness of the bush flanges. You'll also need to add the thickness of the 2 steel plates to the lengthof the bolts. I "think" I used 90mm long bolts with the excess thread ground off.suzukigav wrote:also what is the distance between the 2 pieces of the shackle?
Wheeling on completely wicked angles, without even looking stable.
Yep, you need to watch shank length closely.
I have bought bolts the right overall length before but the shank was too short so the bush rode on some thread. Not ideal
