There are two seals, one in the diff housing that seals on the smaller part of the axle & one that seals between the bearing and the axle flange. In most cases the inner seal is all that needs replacing, I did this with mine 4 years ago & it is still going strong (if you do this make sure you repack the wheel bearing as the oil removes the grease, I used a small grease gun with a pointy adaptor).

If this doesnt work then you need to replace the outer as well which will also require the bearing to be replaced as you usually bugger the bearing getting it off the axle. In any case if you are going to the trouble to remove the bearing you might as well replace it anyway.

I realise that the outer seal on mine is probably buggered as the oil was getting out but until the bering craps Im not going to touch it.

The outer sea is already leaking now but without the adittion of the oil into the bearing cavity it seems to settle down again, the outer seal is really only a dust seal to keep stuff out, from memory it is double lipped.

Ok cool so without the oil it has no trouble keeping the bearing graese in and dust and crap out.

Ill order two new seals and tackle it on the weekend.
