For those of you asking. Just heard from Kev. Both Birdy and him are going well with some good times. They have had no DNF's since missing out on the prologue stages. Caught up on some sleep from not hitting the pillows Saturday night. Kev and Birdy are off to 3hr GPS stage tonight and then have 3 stages tomorrow.

Bugger

Post by 2dextreme »

Bugger Sarah, not what we are wanting to hear. But i bet they had a good time anyway. Hope they get that sorted before Chiff Hanger. I will be good to watch Birdy and Kevy in action down there since we couldn't make the outback this year.

Spoke to Muppet this morning when he was on the start line.
He and Alan are all G'd up and doing well. They got no lockers aparently but still doing quicktimes and taking stage wins to date.
Todd and Ivan are neck-a-neck with them

Thanks guys. Cliffhanger will be good fun.. I am also going down with Kev and taking Chloe too. Duncan you are right about Kev smiling and laughing it up... they decided to yell and screem and throw some sticks and then they sat on the car with a can of Jimmy each. Dont know how long they did that for but they were in no hurry to move on. :-) Duncan... I think he needs a cuddle! Show him the love...

*************BREAKING NEWS***************

Just spoke to guys who have returned from Denian and to Trudi who's at HQ and things are really getting interesting.............

- Coops and Hummer dropped a cyl. when racing Kill Bill on the X-Terrain (old gunbarrel). Their times for the rest of the day are understandably slower but they are still competing and are hoping the engine can hang on to complete the event. They are obviously disappointed after having a good week.

They have to change a plug or 2 every stage as they keep fowling up and burning oil.

They still got 16 out of 18 points on shifting sands with the engine problems and their main gps not working so used and old Garmin 128. That's a huge effort with great composure given their circumstances

They were also quickest up the sand wall in their group.

- Peter and Jane had another good day and seem set to win trophy class if they can keep it together for one more day

- No one drove the wall and believe Greeny and Huddy had the quickest time for the week.

- Todd and Ivan were the only team to get all 18 waypoints on shifting sands in 41 mins averaging 40 km/hr and Hoon and Andrew only got 5  3 teams got 16 out of 18.

- Lastly Hoon has been spotted in BH getting repairs and as such taken a 100 point penalty :bad-words: May also have a bent rear diff housing but not confirmed.

Haven't heard anything from other goups but hopefully all the front runners make it to the last day and give their all to the end

Don't have any specific news on Max and Cosmo other than they have had a good week and have avoided major breakages. Did here they finished 3rd behind Todd and Ivan and the Muppets on the morning plot hunt at Nundooka and Max was so excited that when he left the finish area to park he punched into a large rock and manged to beach the Jeep and leave everyone rolling on the ground laughing

Post by 2dextreme »

Just spoke to Todd, They finished todays stages in first gear due to having no brakes, but aren't happy people. They have had a protest put in against them for taking Normy's tailshalf. NOT HAPPY JAN.

Just spoken to Trudi and the days stages were finished by 12.30 and teams should be starting to return to BH. As usual the final day and lead up to presentation is full of controversy :bad-words:

- Todd and Ivan have been penalised 100 pts for getting the front tailshaft off Wormy and Clay at Denian at the start of the week and have also lost their points for the following stage. I believe there is more discussion to come between those involved but this is where it was at this morning.

As far as I know you are allowed to resource parts within your group but organisers have clarified that these parts must be spare parts and not a part that is still in use.

Stay tuned on this one

- The top group today prior to today's stages were........

1st - Muppets
2nd - Todd and Ivan
3rd, 4th & 5th - Hoon, Coops & Greeny but not sure on the order.

Al McMullen & Terrence Reinders also in top group but not sure of their placing.

- All of the top group had clean stages today except for Terrence who tipped over and Todd and Ivan who had brake issues.

- Al Mac spotted under Jeep doing some welding and Shayne holding the exhaust system but don't think this held them up.

- Pete & Jane also looked to have completed todays stages and maybe on their way to a top 10 finish and the Trophy Class win

The teams total points weren't given out only their individual stage results so nobody knows how close the points were so the 2008 OBC winner could be any number of teams

Presentation tonight at the racecourse where there is phone reception so I'm sure it won't take long for the results to make it back to us here on Outers.

Todd and Ivan

Post by 2dextreme »

Just spoke to Todd some more. Up till last night when Paul V came out to the camp Todd and Ivan were running 1st by80 points then gave them the 100 point penalty from tuesdays stage were Normy gave him his tail shaft. They did todays stages in 1st gear for they had no front brakes and only some back brakes and no clutch. Had a blow out on one of the stages at night and now have had another blow out on there way back into BH.
