Looking at mount some spotties to my soft top zook,
just want to see what people have done, and get a few ideas.

Hides the chassis extension, protects front end and corners, and plenty of room on the top bar for more too =)

Mine.

Not a soft top, and I don't really even like roof lights, but when folded these are right out of the way so A) it doesn't look like mickey mouse B) they can't get damaged C) they don't look like tough guy stickers.

They aren't wired yet, but I had it out on saturday and they don't rattle or anything when stowed.

is their a pin or something to hold them in the DOWN position or is it just the pressure from the strut holding them? looks the goods.

Nope, just the strut. It's an overcentre thing so they're pushed down and pushed up. Seems fine.

I know it's a Zook and you probably like keeping things simple…
But where's the Bling Bling activator so you can raise/lower the spotties without getting out the vehicle

Thanks Lil'loki, "design" isn't really the right word for a bit of trial and error. It's not very complex, the only "hard" bit was working out how to get the strut in the right spot to push the lights both ways so there was no need for locks or catches.

I could use an actuator but no, i'd rather keep it simple. It really won't get much use - I don't do much night driving and its not for the road (obviously)

I wanted to mount the camping light somewhere and I've had the driving lights for years so thought I'd do something with them.

Nevertheless, trial and error… It's a practical solution.
Also as you stated, they won't be up for daytime driving, so less drag on a vehicle which isn't that drag-coefficient to start off with. The build (welding) quality of the unit and on your exo is pretty good.

I'm not that strong - that's a 650N strut. It's been degassed (it's a varilift strut) but it's WAY stiff. That's why it doesn't rattle.

I thought I might be able to use a cable/handle or something but the range of motion etc doesn't let it work unless there was a whole lot of ugly stuff all over the roof or I took the back window out.

If you're running air lockers you could power it by a solenoid pumping or sucking air from the strut!!!!! how awesome would that be!!?

I have a 200mm air ram, it would work a treat for in cab control!
