If you want it slow, get a set of 6.5:1 transfer gears and some short (4.88:1?) diff gears.

I have 4.8 toys 6.5 t/c and 35s its ok around town but there is no way id drive it the 3/4hr drive to work each day 4000rpm between 80-90km/h.
Although when I had 33s and 4.8 diffs I had a stock case in and it was great on road.
Just some thoughts for you.
Ive considered 4.5 diffs but I love the low range with the webered 1600 it pulls great off road, and loves windy up and down hills but show it the open road and I have 18 wheelers passing me.

grimbo is right mate.

Don't see how you think coils make it better. Will make it worse.

No ifs ands or buts about it your rig is illegal with lux diffs, a 1.8litre petrol engine and coils in QLD. If your going to run the lux diffs I would use the 35's for off road only and run the smallest tyres you can onroad or make it a trailered rig. You will stick out and pulled over in no time with 35's.

Is it a 1 or 2y engine from a grinner 2wd lux??
