alternator ... what the hell do I have?

Post by t_e_z_a »

So just assembled my engine ... tried to dummey assemble the alternator I have got.

It looks nothing like any of the other photo graphs on the how to threads.

Can anyone tell me from the following pictures what I have . .. It says its the mitsubishi branded one and was apparently from an EL. As you can see from the photos in doesnt come close to lining up and the alt mounts would have to slide into the engine alt mount rather than go on the outside.

The codes are
3R23-10300-BA
A003 B5391
12V110A 0704 A

Do I need to find another one :(

Thanks

Teza

Hi Teza,

Is that off a Falcon V8? I believe that they are very different to the I6 ones required for the zook...

Here is what I did:

That is either a Bosch unit or its off a V8. Either way its no good to you..
Take it back and swap it for an EF or EL 6 cyl (Mitsubishi) alternator. 100A or 110A doesn't matter, they both fit with a little work.

A close up of the part number would be good.'

the 110amp alt is an easier fit and easier to get. can get from most pick a part wreckers for $55

Even tho its not EF-EL (I think its BA) it should fit with a little work.

Drill out the nut welded in the bracket and the square hole in the other side then grind a bit off the alt (side without steel bush) so it goes over the bracket, thats what we all had to do anyway.

It wont fit .. if you look at the photo it has solid mounting positions rather than two tabs with a space between . Went and got a 100amp mitsubishi one

HUH??? :?
This is YOUR pic...

Doesn't matter now if you've got an EF unit..
Depends if you want to run V belt or multi rib but you'll probably have to grind a bit where I suggested anyway as well as change the spacer behind the pulley.

Nah dude those are my pics you are using I posted them up top to show old mate what a ELF/EL Alternator should look like... thats my Alternator that is a Mitsubishi EF Alternator for sure, I checked the part number. I actually shaved the bit of the back the little magnet and left the nut in there and went and got the correct bolt to to go with it :D

That said it wasn't a straight bolt up for me I had add more to the bracket as I have power steering from a Vitara on mine
