I just quoted a bloke on modifiing his Jimny he wants a 5 link front and capable of running 32-33 " tyres. And after looking over his Zook They wouldn't be that hard to modifie but the standard suspension setup is weak and badly designed to be lifted. To lift it and make it work you would need to 5-link the front , the rear will probably work just make stronger arms.

What's this? A bogged toyota? What a surprise!

Bud, get higher up in the soft stuff, that's where the fun is. Don't worry, i'm sure my stocker will kick your seriously modded runner every day on the beach (even in 2wd, hehe), that ol' runner's a bit on the slow side being a diesel and all. SLOW LUX! SLOW LUX!

By the way, lettin' her drive? YOU MUST BE MAD! I've seen her drive the celica...OUCH!

Okay, so maybe you'll still kick my butt in ormeau...

DIG :D

Okay... what *has* everyone been doing as far as recovery points on Jimnys goes?

With Stimpy, we welded a massive U-bolt to the front of the chassis rail, then cut a hole in the black plastic bumper section for it to protrude through. The back one was a hoop bolted inside the rear chassis rail - again with a hole cut through the bumper - see pics. (It also doubled as a rear step  )

Both of these options passed engineering.

That was back in 2001... and after looking at the new Jimny Sierra... SUZUKI HAVE **STILL** FARKED IT UP BY HAVING NO RECOVERY POINTS :bad-words: :bad-words: :bad-words: - only the pissy little, highly dangerous, tie-down points.

What has everyone else come up with since? I need to do something with Dilbert before I head up to Moreton in a couple of weeks...

Clint, you don't reckon you could have done any better mate?? The tow hook shown was probably made by a back yarder, so you couldn't do any better

when increasing tyres from 28 to 33 isn't any suspension system weak? hated my jimny in the end but the one place is had better ability than a stock sierra or vitara was in the suspension...oh yes....and i did give it hell.

sorry, freakin laptop wontlet me post pics. but i have a hayman reece towbar, an a ARB front bar, tha rear bar i jus use the pin that holds the tow ball bit in place and for the front i use the tow point bits but i have bemt em. i usually run the snatch over its self on the diff, seems to work fine, but as i can imagine you guyz probly have a rule against that type of recovery.

Eeeeeeuw!

Don't use the tow points... ever! People get killed that way... might as well use your wipers!

Wow Bogoor... do you know the guy who made the recovery points on Stimpy? Gee... what a legend, you must aspire to be just like him

check out my front bar in the "THE UFO" link below in my sig - those bolts go through the chassis with crush tubes... simple and effective.
