hey M/M the flares are cheap, easy, & very durable,, they are race plastic, you get it from speedway shops, comes in several colors its about 750mm wide & you get it by the meter, hit a tree with em,they fold up & nearly go back to original, but when you get home put a towel on em,heat up the iron
& go over them, that straightens them right out.to finish them I use pinch weld around the edges, even the back panel with TJM is race plastic...$14 a mtr.. but there the old ones, have to make wider ones now

Some people say they grip better going the opposite direction to the norm, but having them going different directions on the same car I haven't seen before
Did you forget to change the tyre around piglet? Or are you running them like that for any strange reason?
Looking the goods mate... for a Fez

THE TYRE ON THE WRONG DIRECTION WAS JUST THE SPARE,there all the same way now, just back from the weekend or racing / testing, the fatroza performed better than I had hoped, it is so stable now,Im going to revalve the shocks a little stiffer, & drop back to 35" tyres, as a team we miss out on a few stages due to arriveing late & the other team rig had some issues, that caused some DNF's, & some slow times due to other rigs winch failure,so we had to winch them out,on the 2nd last stage, I smashad the FATROZA's auto, so that put us out indefinately,we did not take a camera so i will have to find some pics, desert rose photography was taking heaps, so I will be in touch with them,,, but all in all it was a great weekend,& I dont know how but we still managed 8th place

Ill try & put on a fatroza show. it still gets people wondering how 15k of 1980 daihatsu scat came home in a top 10 position @ 2005 OBC,compeeting against 65 international teams with truck values up to 180k+....
anyway I have just gone back to 35" tyres (mickey thompson MTZ) to get the power back in the tighter comps. 37"s were good in the long distance 130klm/ph plus stages, but 35s will give me the punch everywhere else.

DIFFS :- front, nissan GU patrol.
:- rear, nissan GQ patrol.about 1" narrower each side than GU (trying to get a better wheel track in the rear in tight cornering
# NB 1 both are factory diffs, running factory axels & CV's, front diff has been braced,& stregnthened, with a pumpkin protector welded on.
# NB 2 both diff housings had everything cut off them & moved so they would line up under the chassis, ie- front spring saddles were moved in around 3" each side to get them to line up with chassis, same with leading arms, trailing arms & also rotatedto corect angles then welded back ect
DIFF CENTRES :- imported 4.88 nissan ratios
LOCKERS :- air lockers front & rear
COILS / LIFT :- hard to say exact height, but it sits taller than a gu patrol with a 4" lift when she has 37" tyres
:- rear coils, factory swb patrol coils
:- front coils, custom progressivly rated coils by lovelle VIA driveline services specs (but could have went with factory if wasnt comping)
ENGING :- 1994 VR V6 Commadore with Turbo 700 auto to a Hilux trany.
DRIVESHAFTS :- custom by Driveline services
REAR:- has twin double cardinal joints for the angle
WINCH :- warn 8000pnd high mount, with a 6.5 hp motor, currently being modified to have air freespool, the drum widened by 100mm & a 24 volt system (2nd alternator, wiring upgrade ect)
Tyre SIZE :- pitured with 37" micky thompson claws, but have just gone back to 35" tyres but I am testing the mickey thompsan MTX, & so far very happy.
CHASSIS :- could have done this on a roza chassis, but I used my old rolling chassis from the original p55 scat piglet that had been already extensivly modified, ie motor, box, winch ect already in. & if it wasnt for the bad roll it would still be a scat.
theres heaps more, realistly the only feroza bit is the steering colum/steering wheel, & break/ accelerator pedal & cab, I even cut it in half to an extra cab ute.. there is a few other Daihatsu bits, but not much, & especially not many that havent been modified

Thank you pigletracing, very impressive specs. and yeah, it seems that very little Feroza components are left. Hehehe. Im looking at building a race vehicle here in the Philippines. Our club (FerozaClubPh) is new to serious offroading and we would like to build our first feroza racer to
increase the involvement of the members, even if it is a Feroza only in looks.

hey monmendoza, if you want strong & reliable, with an easy conversion that would work well & look good, with parts now cheap & easily accessable, why not get complete SWB nissan GQ patrol,& re/CAB it with a feroza... as lockers,C/V's diffs ect are every where,Id leave it as all standard GQ motor ,everything as the lesser amt of weight the feroza cab would be heaps less.

Thanks for the advice pigletracing, Patrols are not readily available in the Philippines surplus, but there are some of them. We will consider the patrol.pigletracing wrote:hey monmendoza, if you want strong & reliable, with an easy conversion that would work well & look good, with parts now cheap & easily accessable, why not get complete SWB nissan GQ patrol,& re/CAB it with a feroza... as lockers,C/V's diffs ect are every where,Id leave it as all standard GQ motor ,everything as the lesser amt of weight the feroza cab would be heaps less.
The cheapest surplus axles that are readily available in the Philippines are Dana 44 axles coming from the Korando. What do you think of the Dana 44 axles pigletracing? I was thinking of putting Lock right lockers for the rear and ARB front so that we can disable the lockers for better steeringpigletracing wrote:how about 80 series landcruisers,
control. We are looking at Saginaw for the power steering box. What did you use? I did'nt see it in the specifications that you listed. Please comment also on our choice of engine. We plan to use the Mitsubishi 4G63B with turbo with 4WD transmission originally used by the Pajero during the late 80's early 90's.
most of the vechicle modles you mentioned I dont recognise, there probably called somthing diferent over here. The danna 44 stuff is used a farebit in buggies,I havent used them, but if they are they must be strong,as for the motor I went for $cheap$ & what was readilly avaliable,as life span in a comp rig is limmited.if the mitsubish are cheap, strong & heaps around sounds good. speeking of mitsubishi, later ones came out with a 3link coil rear end .
its only a little mods to make it an "A" frame 5 link rear end, or how about old dead rangies, there must be heaps of range rovers about,
#power steer I used was Daihatsu Rocky P/S box to the motors pump
