just wondering what you other people with fuel injected patrols have done with the ecu? as i personally think it is in a stupid location for a 4wd.

if it came from the factory like this it MUST be ok
not sure where abouts they're located but why not just extend the wires and put it where you want?

Hey Naif i do agree as in mine the ecu got flooded when i got stuck in a bog hole, water and mud came in thru the around the rubber gromets. since then i have used silicone to fill all holes in the firewall to stop any future problems.
When the box got wet it was full of mud so i thought i had nothing to loose if it was fried so i washed it out with fresh water and used a plastic straw to blow dry around the main board. and then the motor started and not a problem since. I have been thinking of getting some loom to fit it above the glove box as well.

I've flooded mine a few times and ecu's still working fine. I may be real lucky or they're sealed better than you think. Would be interesting to hear from others though

yeah thanx guys, apparently my car was caught in the newcastle floods last year before i got it and water came halfway up the trans tunnel inside the car and fried the ecu.
thats my biggest concern is if i am out wheeling and get stuck in a deep bog hole and water comes in and fries the ecu and having to be towed back to the bitumen and then call a tow truck.
for those that dont know, the ecu is located in the passengers foot well under the dash.
also does anyone know the reset procedure for these? its not in my gregories manuel, mines a TB42E
