difference in driving GQ with 35s rather than 31s with 3.9s
how much difference would there be if i am driving around on some 35 rubber with only the 3.9 ratios.
is it possible to do? or will it be a stupid thing to do?
how much power/acceleration change would there be?
cause i might run a 35 as a road/offroad tyre.

It will sit higher, look cooler and go slower
is it possible to do?
yes
or will it be a stupid thing to do?
most probably, unless you like going slow
how much power/acceleration change would there be?
A fair bit
cause i might run a 35 as a road/offroad tyre.
yay for you

well as your running a TB42 you probarbly will not notice that much difference as there hardly known for their speed ..
If you swap to some alloy rims at the same time to keep the rotational mass down the taller rubber will be less noticeable .. also what sort of 35 are you looking at swapping to ... If you go with a heavy wide bias ply tyre (swamper, claw etc) you will find a much bigger differance than if you go with an MTR or BFG radial due to the huge difference iin weight of the rubber.
I would do it .. then look at what mods you need to make once you have em to make sure your happy ... At first you will be jazzed by the fact you have 35's .. then after a few months you will want to go slower .. so look at a bit more grunt form the motor or a gear swap ..
Jump in head first ... see if you like it .. you can always sell or trade em for a smaller tyre if you find them unacceptable ...

Before we get into another 10 pages of you asking every possible combination or every worry you have about it.
Just do it. Then decide, once you have done it if you can live with it. You will want to go to lower gearing eventually but can probably live without them for the moment until funds allow you to get them. We appreciate you are on a tight budget as you are a student but this constant toing and froing with the same questions constantly is getting tiring and you will find down the track that people will be less inclined to answer your questions.
And yes it will look a lot cooler on 35s

don't haggle him man. let's help him get this truck built asap.
peter - first thing to do is to get approval from your dad. or tell him to butt out totally and don't listen to anything he says. hard to do, i know, since you're living with him. next thing is to get your finances sorted and stick to your budget. the 35" radial claws sound like good value for money and i would get them. however, 35" mtrs are also pretty cheap and good value for money. you don't want to be swapping tyres all the time. you will have no issues with cops on 35s with a mild lift if you've got flares and mudflaps.
you're already booked in for the lift so go ahead with that. then get the tyres after the lift. fit them and see how you like them. then think about gearing and other issues then.

You will get about 110mph in low range first gear.. Personally it would be unbareable..
