Hey , yep , pretty much.
I will post a new thread for each event about 1-2 months out and in that will be regs for the classes.
Remember class A was for mostly legal road cars , class B was for Weekend Worriors and Class C is for Comp Rigs. In 2007 everyone had dramas with the rules for use of lockers , it was so locked and unlocked vehicles can play on an even playing field. This year the rules are pretty much the same , EXCEPT for the lockers bit.
Remember its a fun , entry level comp , not another Superior All Terrain. Its not timed (although there is the 20 sec rule to keep things moving). This is for those who dont want to smash , bash and crash their daily drivers. You have a choice within the rules , either drive it , or have a go , go around and take a small penalty , or bypass and save your machinery for the next obstacle and take a bigger penalty. You may end up the winner in the end by being sensable. Its not just how caplable your rig is , its about thinking when you drive and using all 4wd techniques.
Winching WILL be a part of the event , so be prepared or expect some stages that you cannot complete. Its all part of the game. Its Winner take all in each class so if there is one in your class you get your entry fee back , if there are ten , then its lots more than last year. There are prizes for the place getters , from our sponsors.
I will post more soon. See you all there.
Pete
PS any suggestions , remember this is for you guys and girls to have fun.
I have made some changes to the format and spectating areas and the track will be new or modified from last year. Some things will be the same , like the rock and the gully run.

Sorry Peoples I didnt see your questions as I havent been recieving reply notifications that you have responded to the thread...................
I havent Posted the event because I have thought no-one was interested , things have been so quiet lately , I suppose because of the fuel prices. But we are still here.
So
WHO IS INTERESTED IN A TWO DAY SOCIAL / NOVICE / COMPETATIVE EVENT THROWN TOGETHER OVER DIFFERING TERRAIN AT A CLOSE LOCATION THAT WILL BE FUN ?
If we get more than 20 entries straight up then I will put it on so spread the word.
ENTRY $150 per vehicle
Class A Unlocked (no tricky diffs or gears) must look road legal (except tyres) no cut guards
Class B Locked (not look like competition vehicle) must look road legal (except for tyres) no cut guards
Class C Unlimited (anything goes)
Prize money is winner take all in each class with a proportion to the first SMALL car in each class and the first FEMALE in each class.
eg 9 vehicles in class allows $900 prize pool , $200 to first small car , $200 to first Lady and $500 to outright winner. Hopefully at short notice I can get some sponsors for prizes for 2nd and 3rd outright.
WE NEED A MINIMUM 20 car FIELD SO TELL YOUR FRIENDS AND RIVALS
It will be run on a stage by stage basis all within a relatively small area and class by class so those not competeing can watch , unless you are working on your vehicle.
NOTE: Entry fee includes Driver and Navigator , competition vehicle and tow vehicle , all crew and extra vehicles are at extra charge. Event starts Sat morning and finishes Sunday Afternoon. Staying before and after the event is at extra (discounted) charge for competitors. Im sure you all understand. Camping in the park is available for compeditors , crew and spectators. BOOKINGS ESSENTIAL.

OK everyone , let me know and I will get the dozer out and put it all together.
Cheers

Just my point of view Pete but I think $150 is too much. I think you would get a lot more interest if it was around the $75 mark.
I don't compete in comps for the money, just to have a good time and maybe come home with a trophy at the end of the day. ( if I'm lucky)

was thinking the same thing with the price. all terrain is 125. maybe at 75 their would be a few more mid range 4bys willing to have a go. especially at 1.70/litre to get there. have a few guys that would be keen as well. excellent idea for a comp and i will be a starter at 75 for sure, hope this gets going.sloshy wrote:Just my point of view Pete but I think $150 is too much. only the first roll hurts, then its a ride..
Yeah I agree Dan. For a fun social comp 150 is a bit much. If it was a bit cheaper I would be interested in the locked class for a bit of fun.sloshy wrote:Just my point of view Pete but I think $150 is too much. I think you would get a lot more interest if it was around the $75 mark.

OK no problem , $75 , but there will be little or no prize money , that was the idea of the $150.
I have to pay for the logistics of the event as well as the Earthmoving bill which I expect to come in around $3000 , was $4200 last event. If I have to find prize money as well then it cant be run.
I reslise that mortgages , fuel , food and everything else has gone up , it has for everyone. To be frank it has pushed us to the wall and its only a matter of time now before City-View will be no longer at this rate. Mr Rudd (our fantastic leader) has lost control and is so out of touch with the price of fuel , its hurting everyone. Also last weekend for the first time someone stole the weekends takings , so to hell with it , time to sell up or close and get a real job and go 4wding on my bit of land on my own.
If you want to have one last event here then let me know , but I am not going to do it for nothing , sorry , I just cant.
Sincerely
Peter

i will organise a few trucks as well. at least 3 to start and depending on which weekend will chase a few more. i think most are there for fun and bragging rights around camp not the money. a $5 trophy is plenty and a voucher for a rum can.
only the first roll hurts, then its a ride..
I'll agree with the general opinion pete,
trophy's... made fom local rock or wood with a plate..
sponsored prizes
charge enough to cover your running costs and camping fees, so $75.00 sounds reasonable to me...
then it just depends on the weekend... 20 to 22 June is off for me coz i'm at Imbil marshalling...
this is a location and event i enjoy... although for some reason it always seems controversial.
Look forward to it

Hey all , sorry I had to duck away for the weekend.
Just read the responses and guess we have 12 - 15 cars if my count is right so far. Ok I will consult the Events Calandar , I dont want to clash with another event. Does anyone have any suggestions. I am not available on the 21st or the 29th of June and for all the first week of July. Will need 1-2 weeks to prepare so somewhere mid to late July.
DOES ANYONE KNOW OF SOMEONE THAT HAS A BOBCAT AND OR MINI ESCAVATOR THERE ARE SOME THINGS THAT I WOULD LIKE TO DO BEFORE THE EVENT AND I WILL NEED TO HAVE A DOZER TO BLADE THE ROAD INTO CAMP 1 AS WE CAN NO LONGER USE THE CAMPING AREA NEAR TO THE HOUSE DUE TO THE GLASS LEFT BEHIND AT PREVIOUS EVENTS. (ONE PIECE OF GLASS CAN RENDER A $30,000 STOCK HORSE LAME AND THUS WORTHLESS)
Ok come on people WHEN ??
Is anyone else interested?
Pete
PS I was thinking of a Buggie class separate to the unlimited class , but I dont know how many would be interested. I dont want to waste time clearing tracks and new lines for buggies if only one or two end up coming. I have some great places , that only Mick G , Dave and a few others have seen for buggies.

I'm keen but the only problem I would have, and I would say that there is a heap of others out there with trucks like mine is that it looks like a "comp truck" and so would have to run up against tuff truck style trucks and buggies, I know that's the exact reason why a lot of people don't want to come to this event. I know you would get a heap more interest if you ran a classes like tough tracks trophy and challenge and then maybe outlaw for buggies and unregoed trucks.
cheers Dan

Without being rude , then maybe Tough Tracks should approach me and book in a date to run an event. Until then I run my comp using the best definition as to the classes as I feel correct , Its designed to allow a natural progression from the average bloke or gal , with an average road 4wd who wants to give it a go. Up to your average weekend worrior. JUST DONT CUT YOUR GUARDS OR MOD YOUR TRUCK SO MUCH THAT IT LOOKS LIKE A FULL COMP TRUCK. (ie cut guards , crawler gears or traction control etc , comp mods) Funny thing is that 90% of the comp rigs we have had in CLASS C and on the Creek Rock Crawl have all been registered with the exception of the buggies. They all were able to give me their CTP ext.
Problem is where do you draw the line when it comes to mods , before you call it outlaw class.
OK how about this , if your rig looks like a comp truck and provided your car is not recognised as having competed in any currently running event or series , and it doesnt breach the cut guards or comp mods rules (traction aids or crawler gears) then you can compete in CLASS B.
If anyone else has any ideas as to classes or rules please post them up , but my understanding of the Tough Tracks rules it excludes the average Joe as wanting to give it a go in an entry level event.
Oh and one more thing , the City-View Trials are classed as an observed trial , for those with insurance questions. Like the last phase of a training course where you tackle an obstacle and are scored by an observer.

I'm keen Pete...
close run, and parts aren't far away at Beau'y..
Have to check the calendar for free weekends to suggest though....
For those interested, not entirely sure on the "new" classes, but my TT Trophy rig ran "B" class last year, as did the jeeps of Jet and Wet Racing, Ted's Zook and a few others..
I'm guessing by comp vehicle, safety add ons are not going to tip you up, nor is a paint job... but tube frames and bolt on panels might...
No doubt this could be clarified b4 the day...
