Sierra: Fuel problem?

hey guys, i have just finished my body lift on my new suzi, i have to problems now, one is that i cant shut my doors?? the door is not to hight for the latch? not too sure how that works.. and secondly i cant start the car anymore, the starter motor seems to engage fine, and i dont think there is a spark plug problem, it was running perfect this morning, yeah i jut out of ideas...

okay, i found a wire disconected from the dizzy, i attatched back and it started up fine, then it died like 20 seceonds later, and now it is doing the exactly same thing as before??

For doors loosen hinge screws shut door then tighten screws back up.
Check all the wires around coil etc.

thanks nik, it seems to be that the screws in the hinge are really rusted, any ideas on how the get them out... and yeah i did find a wire disconected on the coil, but it still does the same thing...

check you fuel lines from the carby back, could of pinched a line and is only letting a little bit of fuel past.

Impact screwdriver seems to be the go or you'll end up either stripping the heads out or spending all day cursing the door hinges with a standard screwdriver. Also if you've got some Penetrine spray or the like (wd40), give that a quick spray around the edges of the screws to aid in them coming free.
Another way I've seen them done is using the tip of a cold chisel and a short sharp hit from a hammer in the anti clockwise direction to loosen them up.
Once your done, might pay you to loctite them so they don't come loose down the track.

As for engine woes, just check for anything that has either come off, loosened or pinched once you lifted the body. Wish I could help you more with that one.

cheers Mike, yeah i am going to give the impact driver ago, i have already passed the stage of cursing at my doors... didnt help too much. yeah we with the engine, i put fuel in the carby and seems to start up fine then once its gone it just dies, so i am guessing its not getting fuel through?

When you did the body lift did you use all the old rubber blocks with the body lift or just the body lift, if you didn't keep things the same after its lift you may have a slight twist in the body now as it wasn't raised equally which is stopping your door closing...? But adjusting at as the guys have suggested may be the only fix if your not sure what you left out where.

Trial and error with the engine not running when you did the body lift did you check all the breather lines and what not to the fuel filler and all the lines to the body and chassis had not been affected....?

For the fuel issue, pull the fuel line off the carby, and put it in a glass jar. Get a mate to crank the engine over for you and see if fuel is comming out freely. Also check the filter.

cold chisel on the door bolts and doesnt matter wat u spray on the bolts if theres paint over them it wont get through and if u still cant get them weld a nut over the screw and undo (but u will need new screws tho)

hey guys, yeah i tried an impact driver, did not work, kinda stumped, dont have a welder so yeah, thinking about grinding of the bolts or drilling them and getting new bolts, and with the fuel problem, i clutch started it down the hill, seems to be alright when i do that, but if you leave it running its ok for about 10 minutes then it starts to die and then it does die. when i go to start it again, the same thing happens as before, the starter motor engages but it dosnt actually start..??

i dont get it... why would a dinted fuel tank effect wether the car is getting fuel or not?

Because it can pinch the pickup shut.

also check that you dont have crap floating around in your fuel tank as it could block the pickup get an air compressor and blow the fuel line from the carbi back into the fuel tank to dislodge anything that may be in the line

i had this problem a while back took ages to figure it out evan put brand new fuel pump on etc,,, it would run fine then just cut out and stop then run fine,(the tank wasnt evan that badly dinted )

thanks for all the help guy, i decided to take a plunge and roll start it and drive to work, it got there fine and started up fine when i finished, so hopefully the problem fixed itself, but i will go over the fuel tank thing and blow throught the fuel lines... im still a bit puzzled on the doors, any ideas? the best i can come up with is grinding away the bolts and getting some new ones...

Ive had 4 zuks now and 95% of the body bolts came off using a hammer and chisel to "unscrew" them. The rest I welded some scrap steel to it as leverage to turn it. None of mine would budge with an impact driver just dinted the body!
