91 HILUX INJECTED V8 FITTING 35IN TYRES RUF CONVERSION

Post by leej08 »

HI, GOT A 92 HILUX RN105 SOLID AXLE GETTING READY TO PUT A INJECTED VN 5 LITRE IN IT AND 35IN TYRES.

I HAVE 2IN BODY LIFT AND ABOUT TO ORDER A 2IN SUSPENSION LIFT KIT.

2 X FRONT LEAF SPRINGS
2 X REAR LEAF SPRINGS
2 X FRONT SHOCKS
2 X REAR SHOCKS
AND ALL BUSHES AND U BOLTS.

I WAS WONDERING TO DO A "RUF" CONVERSION IF I DELETED THE FRONT SPRINGS OFF THE ORDER AND ADDED A PAIR OF REARS FOR THE FRONT WOULD THAT MOVE THE DIFF FORWARD?

AND I KNOW THAT I NEED TO DO X OVER STEERING, TAILSHAFT SPACER, SHORTEN THE TORQUE ROD.

ANYTHING ELSE?

If you are going crossover you can delete the torque rod alltogether.
It is there to stop the car swerving under brakes with the standard push pull steering. With crossover steer all it will do is limit flex and shorten the life of your leaf springs.

Its not just a simple matter of bolting rear springs in the front there is a bit of tuning to be done. You may have to add springs to counter for the weight of the front of the truck and what engine your running. After a lot of trial and error I ended up buying a set of brand new 2'' ome springs and added 3 leafs to the drivers side and 1 to the passenger, and ended keeping the smaller load spring to stop the spring bending into a W shape and it doesnt limit flex. Still sits level after 18 months
