Backyard paint job
I'm thinking about a DIY paintjob on my GQ - Kinda wanting to change the colour of it and don't really care if the finished job isn't the best (its better than the flakey paint and rust spots on it now)
I'm happy to strip it back and primer it but after that point I'm a little lost as to what paints to use - what tools I'll need etc... I'm sure that many people have done it here before so I figured I'd ask for advise... Short of buying a few dozen cans of spray paint - whats a fairly cheap method of doing this?

Go to super crap auto and buy a cheap compressor and spray gun , paint it with 2 pack enamel , and toss the gun away when finished. With paint you will probably be under $600 for the job , better than spray cans and have you considered how manycans you will need at $15 a can to spray a GQ. Probably 20 or more , Cheers Paul.
BLOWNZUK 1.3 efi,sc14 supercharger,hilux diffs,detroit lockers,stage 4 rockhopper,6 point cage,35 muddies.
The spray cans were meant to be a joke.
As I said, not that interested in doing the interior pillars, engine bay etc. It just a case of masking windows/handles/mirrors/lights and spraying the crap out of it? Or should I consider pulling off panels, removing glass etc?

Have a look into Brightside paint.
Here is a fairly detailed run down of it, but you can put it on with a roller.

I have done the panels on my race car and i was quite impressed with the outcome for the effort.

I've bought Brightside for my Zook for when i get some more time. I'll be spraying it as i've got the equipment, but rolling can still work well. I bought the paint from Whitworth Marine.

Yeah, I don't mind buying the compressor/spray tools, just looking at ideas at this stage... I actually spoke to the missus a short time ago and have discovered she probably won't be able to get annual leave in January as I have already arranged with my work (2 weeks starting after Christmas) so I figured I'd probably get extremely bored... so I'll probably strip out the interior of the GQ, pull out the glass etc and do it all properly.
Is there any where online I can buy the paint from? Does Supercrap stock a fair variety? I've got a specific colour in mind (not down to the shade though) and kinda want to see if I can get it.)
