exploded view of 60 series 5 speed top cover

Post by EFI-355-60 »

hi all

just rebuilt dads 5 speed out of his 60 series and while everything was fine on the bench before fitting after test drive it wont go into reverse

also there appears to be no spring resistance against the 5/ rev gate and can easily go from 2nd to 5th accidentally

this leaves me to think that maybe the spring out of the top cover case that provides resistance from 4th over to 5th has some how come adrift and is jamming reverse

i have no idea how as i changed gears about 30 times before it wasput in ......probably wore it out lol but it all seemed fine

i dont have the car here and i dont have a manual and cant find an exploded view on the net and was wondering if anyone would be kind enough to scan a few pics for me or guide me to a site with pics

also vnothing on the top selector cover was disassembled just removed and reinstalled so any help is appreciated

thanks in advance rod

the bushes in the top plate can flog out, its possible in this case to be stuck in a gear with the stick in neutral, having been stuck in reverse and had to get back out of where i was once was most painful, this may be an early warning sign for you to look at whilst you have to cover off

Out of curiosity, what did the problem turn out to be?

after taking the top back off the box and discovering everything was ok

i discovered that the nylon/plastic cup that goes in the selector where tha gear knob ball goes had to be clipped properly onto the ball not just slid into the cup like the old one

live and learn and thanks again guys
