The bolt that has like splines all around it; what the hell do you do that up with without stripping it further :?:

Situation:
Broke axles, got new ones, peice was left in diff, just removed diff to clean before fitting new axles and that bolt was completely undone :shock:
Don't know if that can cause damage :?
Need to finish this before lunch as i am towing a boat to the coast to go nab some tailor with some mates :armsup:

ever pulled a diff apart before?

Where are you in south brisbane?

Nope, i have had a centre out before but never had to deal with this bolt

Well I don't have a car today so I can't help - but I have had a few apart.

You need to be real careful - swap 2 identical parts and you will need to pay a professional a few hundred dollars to reset your diff.

I can't tell much about the bolt from that pic though - any chance of another pic of the whole thing so I can see whre you are?

it holds the "locker" together !
it is just a twin hex bolt , a normal spanner or socket should fit it ,
they also have a little locking tab on them as well !!

you can get a socket that fits it my mechanic has a set they have more groves in them,

maybe ring a tool shop?

Just rang ARB and they said the same thing; is it just like a spring washer :?:
and apparently a double hex socket will fit :oops:

Seems pointless now since i just noticed that some of the teeth on the crown wheel (big gear?) are broken :cry:

Anyone know if you can get stronger gear sets :?: maybe chromoly or something :idea:

any multi hex socket or spanner will fit that bolt. no special tools needed
