Hi,
Ive had an offer to buy a 4Y EFI motor at a good price and wondering if it is worth doing the swap,
What sort of power, fuel consumption improvements do i expect to get?
3RZ is the better option i know, but as i have had no issues with the 4Y and this has come up cheap im thinking it would be a reasonable change

What he said. My stepfather and I swapped an 18r for a 22re motor as it was cheap but still had many head aches, helped a heap having a mate that's a really good sparky though. Efi is good as it wont stall on hills compared to some carbys though.ozrunner wrote:Don't even go there.
The amount of wiring and additional sensors and parts you will need for absoluetly NO gain, you would have to be carzy

i run a 2wd sump on my 3rz with x over steering, have a tiny rub mark not even a indent on the corner of my sump from up travel, must only do it when moving because when i stop with it flexed to max up(well as much as it gets stopped, would appear it flexs a tiny bit more whilst moving due to the rub mark) it still has 10mm of clearance

i would try and avoid that at all costs, lifting ur engine and trans 3" will increase how top heavy ur car is, 3" body 3" spring is a pretty tall hilux, having ur engine 3" up will IMO make it abit flop happy.. i would mount it in the stock position and i dont belive u will have any probs, epesh if u have stock steering.
