Pulled my transfer case apart to replace the bearings as part of my overhaul before the new engine goes in.
input shaft on the transfer case is stuffed- the hard facing is worn away, theres chips missing from it, and the spline has a lot of wear.
so i need a new one.
Now the sensible option seems to be instead of just walking into toyota and getting reamed out for a single input shaft, it would be to fit crawler gears to the case. but thats got a lot of potential to be very expensive.
I dont have too many problems with the current low range being too high- so i would be reluctant to go too deep, as it restricts your options when your running around in low range on trails.
I looked at the Locktup gears- bout $500 odd, but its a 4.7:1 is lower than i want
So i looked at marks- they make a heap of different ratios- from 4.0:1- 5.0-1, but they are $995 a set!
Id be happy enough using the standard ratio one again- but i dont really want to know what toyota charges for one! unless someone knows where you can get one aftermarket!
Help!

New transfer input shaft needed- What to do?
2005 HDJ100 Manual, ARB bar, XD9000 winch, ARB rooftop tent + awning, Drawers, Engel, 2" OME lift, 285/75R16 KM2's, iCom, HID XGT's.
i think im going to get the 4.0:1 crawlers- they are wider gears too, which will handle the extra torque of the Turbo motor better too....
But at $995 a set is a bit of a sting to the wallet! At least i wont have to take to the cases with a die grinder to get them to fit if i get the 4.0:1's too!
