Depends what the resistance range of the sender is supposed to be.

It could be perfect, it could be way off.

for best no fuss results id go get an adaptor so yuo cun run the correct sender,

we had this drama in a GU patrol, and we bought an adaptor that suited the sender, then recut a thread on the brass adaptor to suit the thermostat housing

ive run an electric gauge in a commodore from the factory sensor and it was spot on, sat on the right temp on the gauge when the thermostat was fully open as per factory temp specs! even switched it while running to the dash gauge and it was spot on.

i put one in near intake manifold. there was a bung going into one of the water jackets, i get a good reading there and can even tell when my thermostat opens up. i used a manual water temp gauge tho
