Hobzee, what are you doing replying at 4.47 am or is my computer playing up? When are you and Rudi heading up to set up the stages. Can you put some bunting up for the four crews from SA near the southern creek end for our camp site? Joking joyce.

yeh, what were you doing at that time Hobnacle.....? and during a weekday.

Gazza, another SA pulled out this morning..... you might be the only one at this rate....

Paul and Timbo although have been working around the clock so it looks like all is good.

Need to pull something special to take the perpetual trophy of the Vics though.

Been wetting the bed a fair bit lately. Trying to tie up all the loose ends as only 4 sleeps to go and we are on our way.

Jason at Travel Lite (sponsor) just installed a rear drawer unit in the pace car. Last year I tipped the Engel (sponsor) over a few times but not this year. Got my front end all sorted with Ironman (Sponsor) 4" coils and foam cells with Superior (Sponsor) drop boxes and Wizard (Sponsor) steering arms. If you haven't got drop boxes fitted yet or even King Shocks (Sponsor) then I guess you're not planning on going fast. Shafe at On4ToU (sponsor) has got all the on coming traffic flashing their lights at me and Rog at Dynamica Rope (Sponsor) has me all tied up. I am doing a lube and filter change - courtesy of Terrain Tamer (Sponsor) and Blackburn 4x4 (sponsor) along with all the spare bearings and rebuild kits. My Silverstones (Sponsor) are about to set out on their 4th trip to White Cliffs - cant wait to call into West Darling Hotel (sponsor) for a spell. Oh - dont get me wrong - these aren't my sponsors - they are YOUR sponsors so remember them in your last minute spending spree.

Time for bed ...

There's no EFTPOS but we can call Cr Card details back to home over the phone. We dont want to run tabs but if you need to spend money it can be arranged via Cr Card (Visa or M/Card). Rudes will always find a way of getting your money..

Ambulance

Post by Hobzee »

All competitors (drivers and navigators) need to have current Ambulance cover as per CCDA and you will need to show proof of cover to Leon Jones - our CCDA rep - at the event. I believe people in Qld with an electricity bill have auto cover - in that case can you bring something to show this please.

Leon will also be checking CCDA memberships as well. They can be paid at White Cliffs.

All competitors and marshals need to be in CCDA. Family CCDA membership is OK for Marshals but the risk takers (competitors) cant share a family membership and need their own individual membership.

CCDA have extended their financial year by 6 months.
New CCDA memberships last 18 months and expire 31 Dec 09 = that's 2 x Cliffhangers in one CCDA subscription. Also current members that would have expired just before the event on 30th June are now extended by 6 months and expire on 31st Dec 08.

Gees - that's as official as I get

Bring it on ... 3 sleeps to go for me.

list is updated Gazza. Make sure you refresh your webpage.

Daniel Hansen had pulled out from SA.

Still coming as a spectator though- maybe you can employ him as your put crew.

Rudi, understand you are now up there with your team. As I am planning to be a soft rooster and bring my little caravan in what is the track like leading to the campsite? Understand that someone got bogged going into the camp site.

Are we following the scoring system as under the CCDA rules?

Gary,
From what i hear its all good getting into the camp, only one of them got stuck and it was something to do with taking a line he should have.
So no problems at all getting in, unless you are him.

Camp is all going well, the river is not flowing, but is quite muddy. So that should make for some fun.

Cant wait to see you up there DAD.

What's the best way to pay? Can we send a money order, or do an EFT?

Hi Andrew,
Tried to call but i guess you are working.
Can you please clarify, I was led to believe that the membership is now running per calander year and our CCDA membership would be extended till Dec08. I was led to believe this was the case as the membership falling in the middle on the competition year was confusing for all competing and marshalling people.
Thanks Nic.

The CCDA has not extended the current membership year. It was discussed but not passed by the CCDA Executive. Membership Fees are now due and we are asking for an 18 month membership fee to be paid which will see all competitors and marshals financial until the 31st of December, 2009.

Membership Forms are available by email request to: registrar@ccda4wd.com.au.

Andrew, I dont get it - when we first discussed CCDA sanctioning of the event with Mike Smith I raised my concern that all memberships will be due jut 5 days prior to the event and that virtually there will be zero financial members fronting up to the event. I was told that this was "not a problem" as the year was being extended. I'm not sure how I could have interpreted this "not a problem" any other way. Has the CCDA changed its mind? Let me get this straight - if someone joined CCDA a few weeks ago to do Outback Challenge, then are they now non financial as of 30th June and have to pay yet again just weeks later?

Can someone from CCDA please explain how this can be "not a problem"?

Marshals and Competitors - the clear advantage of us being CCDA sanctioned is that you have personal injury insurance - and that's about it right now (Other than Leon coming as CCDA rep - he was a big win fall and we are very pleased he is coming). I am all for supporting you guys and gals being insured and ask that what ever the outcome, it is your best interests we have in mind. Even if it does mean dragging you through this. Apologies from the Ironman Cliffhanger Exectutive.

Hey Hobzee. I hear through the grape vine that a few people got boged on the way into camp. Should we spectators interpret that to mean some decent good 4wding for us aswell?? :multi:

Sounds like its shaping up to be a blast. Cant wait!!!!!!!!

How about a bit of common sense re CCDA membership. If such a body wants us to join or maintain our membership for the benefit and growth of the sport then such a body should it get house into order and forward renewal notices some 30 days before they are due. I have not ever received a renewal notice from the CCDA since joining and have had to follow them up. We still have not received our log books back from CCDA after the OBC, so what are we to do? I am sure CAMS don't work this way. I understand the excellent effort put in by all at CCDA but suggest these problems need to be sorted. Suggest if memberships are due at the start of the Cliffhanger that members be allowed to pay at the event like the OBC or is it one rule for one event and another rule for another event? Hobbzee if this is not acceptable what are your intentions as event organiser?
