CCDA

Post by Hobzee »

We have sent complete up to date lists of competitors and marshals to CCDA Mgt. They have agreed to do as much as they can in the time they have.

CCDA memberships can be paid on site - I am thinking that if you are not yet paid for the new year (that has not yet started) then it would be best to now pay on site as you might not otherwise make the list they send to us.

CCDA Membership is $66 and takes you to Dec 31 2009. You are then covered by their personal insurance and I think that is a sure thing to have.

As for log books I understand that some people still dont have them. We will be given a list of who is log book worthy. At the end of the day if you have been scrutineered and are worthy of a log book then that will have to do. If you are not yet scrutineered then you had better pull your fingure out.

Leon Jones will be CCDA rep at the event. He has volunteered to help us and will do everything he can to make sure you are looked after once on site. We will appoint some helpers to assist him with log book issues, membership payments, etc.

Rough_Rider wrote:Hey Hobzee. I hear through the grape vine that a few people got boged on the way into camp. Should we spectators interpret that to mean some decent good 4wding for us aswell?? :multi:

Sounds like its shaping up to be a blast. Cant wait!!!!!!!!
When we arrived it was dark and did not see the detour around the water. It has dried up and with the detour there is no issue with regard to getting in with caravans, trucks, etc.

But there is stacks of off roading for the spectators. You will have to have a 4wd or all terrain vehicle and compulsory deflating of tyres to participate in spectator convoys. All good stuff. Nothing too serious for the cautious ones.

Hey Gary
As you know the CCDA is a voluntary job and can probably use more people to help them, i'm not supporting them in any way as we to don't have our log book back from OBC either, but i always have recieved a re-newal form in the mail and the year i did forget to pay it i was able to pay at the comp as Hobzee said. BUT REMEMBER IT'S VOLUNTARY,

Hey Hobzee , I will try and help Leon out with some of his official duties before the event. I owe him a few favours

Im also looking for someone to tow a camper trailer up , so if someone wants a couple of $$ for fuel and has a spare towbar that would be great!
Huddy phoned vic roads to see if we could join the 2 camper trailers to the tandem with the race truck on but for some reason they laughed at him :D

No problems - you can pay when you get there.

All we ask is that when you do arrive (this goes for everyone) pls walk over to the official area rather than driving over and creating a traffic jam in an area that we would rather no cars at all.

Progress

Post by Hobzee »

Yesterday's stats...

Both Rudi and I had to each winch twice. Lost count the number of times we had to engage lockers.

Rudi drove / winched the water

I was test driving Rocks and prewalked the water - note to navi's - it's bloody cold. ... he he - at least that means I still have dry seats but.

The Fuel is on site already for those who pre-ordered it.

Today's hint .... there is more traction in the water than in the sand.

Spectator points are ACE !

Fully agree that CCDA is a voluntary organisation which I mentioned in my post. The difficulty for all is the confusing communications we receive. Spoke to Paul and Andrew at length and the delay in the log books according to them is not their fault. Paul said we can pay our renewal fees and pick up our log books at the event. I thanked Paul for his assistance in this matter. I am more than happy to help or support the CCDA in whatever capacity I can from SA.

If anyone is to compare the CCDA with CAMS they need to take into perspective fees and regs. ie. people in glass houses cant throw too many stones

Dear all

The official line on log books as there seams to be a bit of confusion / frustration!

I have all OBC log books. At last!
I have all applications that have been sent to the CCDA.
I have a list of 39 Competitors but not ROPS number associated to them!

All information will be going upto the event with Leon and any outstanding paperwork will require to be presented in order to pass scrutineering.

There is no one as frustrated with the current situation as I am. I am trying to do all I can and will attempt to call you individualy re any issue I can foresee. If we where all as efficient as I am suppose to be my life would be a dream!!

The bottom line is:-
If you have a log book in your name and made no modificationsNo problem
If you have got your paperwork as per regs No problem
If not may I suggest you do so to save dissapointment. If you have not sent them I suggest you hold onto them an talk them to the event.

I have already spoken to some and will attempt to call the rest of you early next week. This will be only possible if your contact details are correct on the CCDA Database!

Any problems / issues please feel free to contact me to discuss directly.

No ones living in a glass house. If any business, organisiation, government, voluntary organisation, cannot have effective demoncratic debate then there is no point in such an enity existing for the benefit of its members or for the fact that organisation exist in the first place. So I am more than happy to have a discussion with you or any member or offical of any organisation that works for the benefit of this sport, as long as the long term objective is for the benefit of all concerned. Again more than willing to assist from SA and have done so in the past and will do so in the future by encouraging teams from SA to attend in any capacity in our sport. A suggestion would be to have a state representative in each state to promote the aims, mission, and objectives of the sport in the smaller states or where the opportunity for events are limited.

I think a rep from each state having an input into the ccda is a great idea indeed. I would suggest that there are lots of problems within cams similar to those of the ccda with a much heftier price tag attached to membership. The reason behind the change of membership dues (my interpretation) is that our fees dont fall in the middle of peak competition season.

No Ice is not available at the site. The closest place is White Cliffs.

It's approx a 20 min drive to the station gate from camp then 10 to white cliffs, it is however very very very cold at night. going for ice every couple of days will prolly mean missing out on something somewhere.

not long now

Hi guys and girls - just a quick reminder for those of you who may not already know - TMR will be filming this years Cliff Hanger.

At this stage we have 6 camera people who will be scattered around and we are using between 10 and 12 external cams.

As some of you may have noticed at previous events, we tend to stick cameras in weird places, like on the ground in the middle of tracks (no there are no bonus points for hitting one of these cameras - but if you do we wont hold it against you). We will also be interested in mounting cameras externally on competitor's vehicles - so if you don't mind having a camera stuck on your car, be sure to wave us down at some stage.

If anyone is running an incab camera and would like their footage featured on the DVD, please come and see us at the event - we will be wearing the Team MudRhino Video Crew vests and are a friendly bunch ;)

We look forward to seeing you all there, and good luck to everyone!
