Nice work guys. Looks great. Are you going to utilise the hole for the snorkel again or are you just going to leave a plug there.

Well done guys - looks great.

Small note though, those small indicator/parker lights are designed as marker lights only and are not legal in that application. You might get away with it forever, you might not.

Just something to be aware of. I'm sure a bunch of people will post up and say they're fine, but they have been noted on a defect notice here in Vic, so if a cop was looking for something to defect the car for, they could be a problem.

We will get round to re-fitting a snorkal, but not sure what type yet.
Would like to go for a stainless pipe design.

Thanks everyone for your comments, we had a great night on Saturday celebrating the finish of the project. Its all down to Hailey now to complete the written part of the project ;)

Ill post up some more pics of the car in daylight and of some of the other steps involved in the build.

Does indeed look pretty spec...

on the lights, both hella and narva do a semi sealed head light replacement with the park light built in.

i'd then look at a set of led strips from hella recessed into the bar work between the tubes...

would make for a bit cleaner front end to.

the LEDs on front of my zuk are similar to this (dont stick out as far though) and they have the ADR stamp on the lens so theyre perfectly legal in WA... theyre designed as trailer markers and indicators.

A light can be ADR approved as a marker/indicator repeater, that doesn't mean it's approved as a primary front indicator. the ADR relates to area, colour, and light spread (that's why some of them are marked directionally - i.e arrow to the outside)

There are acutally very few LED amber lights that are approved as a front indicator, and they're pretty big.

Finishing off the paint job.

Linda took over and produced the basic pattern(so blame her !)
Image

Once I had filled in Linda's pattern, it was time for a buff and polish
Image

Then it was off with the newspaper and masking tape

Now Linda & Hailey got a bit carried away with the buffer and cutting compound. This resulted in some of the pink being buffed off
Image

Image

We talked and talked over the problem, one week we thought it would be ok, the next week we didnt !
Eventually, we bit the bullet, pulled the bonnet off and repainted it
Image

Image

In the end, we all agreed that it was worth the effort

The bonnet rattled a bit on one corner and no amount of adjusting would fix it. On a visit to the local autoparts shop we noticed some bonnet latches, so thought they would do the job and also add a bit of bling !

Hailey drilling the pilot holes for the hook

Screwing the self tappers in

More holes to drill

Assembling the rubber hooks

Finished job

We have those same bonnet latches on the polaris at work as the sole way of holding the bonnet down and it goes about 80kph.

a big  to you both!! an awesome and very inspiring effort. Out of curiosity.. what colour is it rego'd as? camp pink would look good on a rego lable

thought about a quick coat of black on the inside of the wheel arches and along the chassis rails? would just top it off nicely imo.
otherwise, fan-friggin-tastic! be proud, be VERY proud!

We picked up these ali rear qtr panels from our mechanic(Grant @ cross country 4x4) for the bargain price of $50.

Sikaflex is the gear to use. We tried liquid nails first, but it didnt stick.
Image

We put some small blobs on first, just to check it wouldnt squeeze out the sides
Image

Once we were happy with the fit, we loaded some more Sikaflex onto the panel and placed it on the car
Image

Image

Clamps help. Keep them on for 24 hrs
