Drop arms, Big O optinions
Drop arms, Big O optinions
Ok fellas and gals.
I have come to a point where i am not happy with the currant arm setup (caster plates and original arms) so i have decided that i want to go arms, simply because i know i am the person to end up getting hung up on drop boxes every time i go out
Was looking at Big O's website and their arms look impressive, and for the price they are a damm side cheaper than Snake or 3rds.
I want to know from anyone who has them if they have had any problems with their arms, (cracking of welds on the arms or what not) as i have a 7" lift and have to go custom arms to get them (though they say thats not a problem).
Any feedback would be good on the part, if Not Big O, the who?
thanks

There are heaps of happy members running the Big O's arms on the Patrol4x4 forum. Post a question there.

For a normal drop arm you can't go past BigO's for value although you have to add the price of bushes on top of the price.
For a bit more coin you should consider Superiors Superflex arms for more flex.

Yep, what makes it worse is they won't recognise that it is their product that is causing the problem. They say that the chassis is too weak so it's wear and tear. You then have to fix a problem and then buy new arms or get drop boxes and weld it all up for strength.nastytroll wrote:3RD'S arms tend to crack the chassis mount around the bush in the chassis. It is a very common problem.

2Dextreme make all types of race proven arms that don't break, crack or bend.
I have been running them for 3 years now in winch challenges, Outback challenge and Cliffhanger. Mine are a set of custom arms with rear bushes and slider drop boxes that you can't get hung up on. He has made plenty of arms for Patrols with no lift for extra strength to 7" lift with or with out drop boxes. All arms that he makes are precisely calculated and with mine I can sit on the highway at 110kmh with my hands off the steering wheel without the car wondering all over the place due to wrong castor like some other brands do.
I also had a head on collision at LCMP Coopers rally in April with a very big rock at about 50kmh that hit the front right wheel and stopped me dead still (flipped me on to my side) and the arms held up to the punishment. I see that as a good test of strength plus all the other punishment I have put them through.
Others that I know of that are running 2DeXtreme arms are GQ Hoon, Birdy, Norm Walters old truck, Kym Bolton, Ian Paltridge, Bob Dunsmore, Phil Swindale (Mannies old truck). All of these guys drive very hard and I don't think they have had any problems with them.
