V8 cruiser gas conversion

Had a quick search but couldn't find anything. Dad has just bought an 03 V8 landcruiser and we were wondring what peoples opinions were on converting these to gas. The dealer reckons they have trouble with those engines. Having said that I run my 88 rangie on gas and wouldn't have it any other way.

Don't know about the V8 but all toyota dealers tell that there are problems with any of the engines when converting them to gas. Told the same with the 4.5 and it has now done 265,000 and been on gas since new with no problems and have seen plenty with more k's. Find a reputable fitter and talk to them, most have plenty of work so arent chasing work .

Mine's much the same, runs on gas all the time. Just wondering how often you do your valve shims.

Check your valve clearences before you put it on gas then every 100,000km

Get the injector type LPG system fitted, The one with a injector for each cylinder

fitted a flashlube system from new also, last checked valve clearances at 200,000 all ok

Paul at Statewide Automotive in Northcote does a great conversion on the 100's that retain the std petrol capacity.

With the V8 i am certain you have to remove the rear tank, but with a 6 cylinder you can get side tanks

No V8 keeps the rear tank and twin gas tanks.

can u run the lpg injection system as a duel fuel set up? petroll/gas?
