Tyres and the Such

Post by firestick »

Hey all...i just got my first car a 2000 GU II ST 3.0L TD. at the moment its at the standard height but im looking at goin for maby another 2". Anyone got any suggestions on this?

Also tires...at the moment i have Dueler All Terains on there and im not happy with them. Im looking at getting some BFGoodriches in either All Terain or Mud Terains...again...any sugestions?

Also...with the standard lift and the 16" rims...whats the bigest tire size i can go before rubbing becomes and issue?

Finally...last question...is there anywhere cheaper the nissan to get a rear passenger side door flare...my mate rove into mine.

Cheers for the help in advance.

I ran BFG MT 285s on standard 16x8 GU rims on stock suspension, they would run oh so slightly in the rear when really tweaked up off road.

hey dude. run the BFG all terrains (queiter and just as able) better on dirt and sand and tarmac (unless wet wit tight LSD and hottie engine). 285s would go well with the 2'' lift but im sure that u would find it would be better to run 275/70 r16 as they are wider than standard but runs closer to correct speedo reading(265/75r16 stock from mem any way). oh yeah i work at Bob Janes so im not yankin ya chain.

I'm having trouble finding a decent set of cheap 2nd hand 235/85/16 mud terrains.

Cheers.

I have just got in some rear 2" lift flexy coils. I have someone testing them this week on a GU and I will probably test a set myself on my GU. The benefit is you can run 3" lift shocks on the rear. You will need a longer brake hose for the rear because of the longer shocks.

i looked at the BFG file today, they only make 265/75x16s and then they jump to 285/75x16s. try something a bit cheaper like a maxxis bravo 751 or if you want muds the maxxis buckshots as i am 100 sure of the bravos and 99.9% sure ive seen 275/70x16 buckshots.or if you want to spend the folding go a pirelli atr (bloody excellent) but all over maxxis best buy.

2inch lift, you can go with 285's quite nicely on some Landcruiser offset 16x8's. I ran them on std GU rims too in that size.

where the hell is kurnell? why buy MTRs when you get more from a BFG. mums BFGs have lasted 4 years of abuse with no stakings or punctures and are still at 35 and 45 percent respectively after exactly 62341.7ks as of today when i drove it.

have you personally not your mum, or your neighbour or your dog, run both types of tires mentioned?
I have - new and old style BFG, and MTR's, and I just ordered MTR's again. Why BFG when you get more from an MTR...

i had BFGs on the hilux when i got it only 31s they got smoked to hell before i put the coopers on and the boss got rid of his MTRs and went back to BFGs on his troopie coz he didnt like the barstards. besides everyone likes a different tire for their driving preferences. you like MTRs i like tires that smoke. but mileage wise what are you getting from your MTRs when i consistently have customers coming back for BFGs for the missus car after driving on them themselves. you also know that MTRs are still made by cooper right? Dick Cepiks, Mickey Thompson and even Eldorado are made by Cooper, BFG being one of the only decent companies that arent exploiting famous name for the same tires with slightly differing pattern between them :finger:

so you havent run both sets yourself. correct?
besides everyone likes a different tire for their driving preferences. you like MTRs i like tires that smoke.
tires that smoke? WTF4? I use mine for offroad and daily driver. Why would I want them to smoke?
but mileage wise what are you getting from your MTRs when i consistently have customers coming back for BFGs for the missus car after driving on them themselves.
They are constantly coming back for tires for the missus car? I thought they would only have to come back once. apart from that none of that sentence makes sense.

I always sell tires when they are at 70% most people do so they are worth selling. I'm VERY happy with the klms I get, if I wasnt happy with the klms, grip in wet/dry/mud/desert/sand/etc would I be on my 3rd set over 2 different cars? Knowing personally from what driving I do, how many I would get out of BFG's having run them?
you also know that MTRs are still made by cooper right?
and that matters.... why?? OME shocks are made by Monroe to ARB specs. etc etc etc.
Dick Cepiks, Mickey Thompson and even Eldorado are made by Cooper, BFG being one of the only decent companies that arent exploiting famous name for the same tires with slightly differing pattern between them :finger:
and I would give a shit that they are exploiting anything because... ?
