1HDT Concerns

Post by vSAHARAx »

Hey All

Well on the weekend, went up with a few of the boys off here to janowen hills 4x4 Park

The 80 series performed like a rocket even towing the trailer carrying 10 tyres (including trailer spare) never got hot even when working at its hardest

My only issue was once at the park and toodling around the tracks in Low Range. After a short time it started smoking badly at idle and if i increased the rpm while in neutral, the motor felt lumpy and smoked heaps!!! If i turned the motor off, once started again it would blow the biggest F-off puff of smoke you have seen  . I was trying my hardest to not let it idle any longer then it had to but sometimes there is no way around it especially in the rocky creek beds. It has done this on previous trips but i thought it was the injector pump. This is the first trip away since having the injector pump completely rebuilt and it is in A-1 condition as far as fuel system is concerned. Yet it was back to its old tricks. If you check out the pics in the members thread every rear shot of my 80 series its smokey! On the trip home i made it really work to see how it performed and again it was spot on. im really confused :S

Any help would be great!
Cheers Troy

What smoke, oil smoke (blue/grey) or fuel smoke (black)?
If its oil, valve stem seals could be shot. Or turbo oil seal?

yeah its deffinately bluey/greyish smoke. i was thinking turbo or valve seals, im more inclined to think turbo seals. she has done 334 000k now and turbo has never been touched. whats it worth roughly to get turbo seals done?
