its not that hard just grind the paint off, weld some metal tabs to the pannel then pull on them with pliers. sometimes pulling the tab to the side helps it pull a bit easier. soory no pics the jobs done.DeWsE wrote:Looks awesome mate.

dont know if its the best way to do it but it got the job done.
nah i wont be shy to hit any trails cause i can just fix the panel that i dent wont have to be a full strip down respray.
oh yea i still have to put my WT flares on too.

weld a nice sized washer and get a slide hammer with your hook head and give it a few nice taps, spot welder is better tho!!! depending on the size of the dint u might be able to use vice grips and a tug.
Where as if your metal is "oil canning" or your dent is an outty get an oxy, set to a netrual flame and get a wodden mallet and a wet rag, work from the out side in, do it in a circle and hold the torch about 5cm away and make a "cherry red" cot about the size of a 10C piece, give it a tap and cool with wet rag.
This shrinks the metal and takes out the "bluge" and "oil canning"
just dont get to hot.

got the wheels off cause im painting them black tonight and doing the chassis black. plus painting the flares and grill tonight, so should be back together by thursday if all goes to plan.

while i had the car jacked up i started looking at my suspension setup. if i didnt have to use this car to get to work while i supercharge my v8 then i would have ground the leaf mounts of and started modifying it.
but any ways here are some measurements i took.
all measurements from bottom of fender to hub centre.
FRONT
on stands under diff. 500mm
on stands under chassis 540mm
on stands under chassis and shock disconected 570mm
REAR
on stands under diff. 570mm
on stands under chassis. 570mm
on stands under chassis and shock disconected. 600mm
as you can see i have no drop on the rear when i let the diff down and the shocks are too short.
the car came with this setup it has 2inch kings leafs and rancho shocks.
my problem is that i can feel everysingle bump that the car goes over its a rough as anything.
also think their are to many leafs in leaf packs but im not that fussed as i want to go jeep leafs and wider diffs still deciding what ones.

No worries mate.
My zook currently has "Ultima" shocks, which are very crap! (they came with the car). I am about to try the comm/hilux shocks too. Make sure you let us all know what you think of them!

quik question for you pro's out their.
i have the option right now and probally this week only to get my diffs. i have the options of
1 hilux diffs
2 MQ diffs
3 GQ diffs

You're NT - no diff swaps are all that easy.
Hilux are about the worst possible diffs you could choose. Steering and rear diff offset are the big problems- adds a lot of stuffing aorund the the setup.
MQ have good offset, and if you wide track the front spring mounts the front is a good fit for SPUA.
you have 3.9 diffs now, so any hilux or MQ diff will have pretty good gearing, but the most useful is probably 4.6 MQ petrol.
Next most useful might be 60/75 series. Big and heavy but very strong and the offset and steering are pretty easy to work with.
GQ- far to wide, poor offset. Only of interest if you're going to build a monster.
All of these diffs though are far too big an heavy unless you are planning over a 35" tyre IMHO.

im pretty keen on the MQ but i thinks its got the L28 motor in it so have to see what gearing it has. it is a narrow track but im so keen to go wider and run bigger tyres with huge offset that ill just keep chopping and welding till its done.
im going to do chassis extension on the front to run the rears up front and i got some jeep leafs for the back. if it becomes hard to mount the front diff to the narrow track cause of the bigger pumpkin or what not i could change the front to WT while i do the chassis extension.
keeping it SOA alll the way.

my mate sold the MQ to another guy to trash out bush so hopefully it wont be too far out when it breaks so i can get the diffs. .

the motor is in and im just about to wire her up. any ways heres some pics

Because of the J arm/drag link that has to be converted to crossover to work on a sierra.
60's are already crossover, as are MQ.
Yes, there's lots of arms etc available for hilux but it's just one more cost.
