Bfgoodrich muds or similar tread pattern

Post by Toy80Diesel »

Hey everyone,

I'm in need of some new tyres and I'm keen on these new style of mud terrains BFG have bought out. I don't believe all the stuff they are trying to push but I'm hoping they will be reasonably quiet on the highways. Currently I have my second set of MTR's and I can't complain about them at all. They are good on road and off, I get plenty of km's out of them as well. The retailer I spoke to sells a range of brands and didn't push the wranglers cos he had a few tyres come back with problems, although these were in specific sizes mostly smaller or in 15". By they way their for an 80 and I want them in 285/75 16 just like I have on there now.

So I'm hoping for some positive feedback from people that have these tyres.

Thanks

the KM2? like the crawler?

Most threads here say they wont be in your size until next year.. only in 17 and 20inch rims

Hi Nutter, I'm familiar with the search function but for some reason, both yesterday and today it won't work for me. can't work out what I'm doing wrong, I just type in tyre and it comes up with no matching posts.
EDIT: Tyre or Mud doesn't come up with anything, but BFG MUDS does...

Hey bogged, I like the KM2 but as you say its not an option for me.

Try TIRE instead
Also try being more specific... BFG MT or Mud Terrain etc

Yea, I've mentioned it a couple of times but hey - if nothing else it means more new threads of old stuff :D

And the usual answer of 'Search noob' is null and void! ;)

If they've still got those shitty gutter protectors don't bother. You'll be forever picking mud out of the bead.

Yeh I just went searching for a pic of mud in the bead but found that instead.

Good news is after googling i believe the rim protector doesnt come on all their new KM2 sizes (well, overseas at least).

Well, only problem I've had with mud in the bead on the MTR's was when I aired them down to about 20psi for a better ride and more traction. When i don't air them down I don't have any problems. I don't want to buy internal beadlocks, but is there any other way around it?

I'm suprised that not many people have said anything about this tyre. Is it because the MTR/MTZ/STT's have taken over?

My local tyre shop ask 'More dirt in the bead?' every time I go in there. Which is almost every trip.

BFGs are like Hiluxes. They've been around forever and everyone knows how good they are. When the new competitors come through naturally people start talking about em

I have em on my Sierra and apart from getting dirt in the bead they're great. 10/10 on mud/ruts, 7/10 on the rocks

Well, I dunno where I read it, but it was somewhere on the internet!

Some guy was using silicone or maybe windscreen sealant (more flexible) to help keep the crap out of the bead. Even if it comes out when you high pressure wash the car, its easy and cheap enough to re-do.

it helps,
or when you get the tire shop to balance them, ask for some bead sealant to be used, its like sikaflex sorta

To be honest if I had to fix something on my vehicle everytime I drove through a puddle I'd get really pissed off and look at spending money on something else. :P
