difference between 80x and 105x hub rebuilds

Post by rockcrawler31 »

Hi all

a guy from work wants me to do a hub rebuild and cv repair for him. I'm familiar with 75x and 80x part time front end rebuilds and i want to know if there is anything vastly different when doing a 105x hub rebuild.

His has ABS and full time front end.

So how hard is it to avoid doing damage to the ABS? what is different with pulling down the non manual hubs?

Also, he may have done a CV as it is clicking, where is the best place to source another and any ideas on price for second hand vs new?

does that just unbolt/unscrew/pull out of the knuckle before you pull anything apart?

Thats right, and if yours doesnt have ABS, the c/v is a std 80 series short c/v and the axle is thesame aswell...to remove the ABS sensor, one 12mm bolt is all that holds it in and an oring keeps dirt out.
All constant 105's have a unique c/v spline on the drive plate end too.
