gq straight gas
God i hate Impco systems on carbies, they are just a pig to tune, and they have so much less performance that any other setup.
If your going straight gas, best idea is to look at either getting a Gas research carbie that is designed for LPG only systems or swapping out to the EFI Prelium chamber, welch plug up the injector ports and use the throttle body for the EFI setup, will give you much better gas burn rate, gets a better amount of gas in.

AA's for Quitters
I'm wanting to put a 2nd gas tank in my GQ dual fuel efi to increase range.
I don't really understand why people want to run straight gas. It'd be handy to have a small petrol tank so you can carry jerries, get fuel from remote places, etc.
Maybe i'm missing something here, but personally i'd only go straight gas if i had to conform to emission regs after an engine swap, etc.

It would be the $.170 somethin a littre encouraging them, this week I have gone through more than 200 litres of fuel...on petrol that would have been a bit of cash.....gas is good!!

Aint nothing wrong with straight gas. you just have to plan ya trips a bit better.GQ Bear wrote: Maybe i'm missing something here, but personally i'd only go straight gas if i had to conform to emission regs after an engine swap, etc..
Unlike the Impco the Gasresearch is fully tuneable, if you know what you are doing you can keep it leaner longer or richer at less throttle depending. Cruise and Wide Open Throttle mixtures don't really vary if correct just at what amount of throttle you start enrichment. A more powerful electronic ignition will enable leaner mixtures for longer(more throttle opening), keeping in mind leaner means hotter and slower combustion which can lead to exhaust valves burning, hence a powerful ignition with optimal timing will help reduce exhaust valve damage as the combustion process will be more complete by the time it outlets through the exhaust valve.
