hey guys maybe purchasing a 84 swb with a comodore v6 allready in it. how is the extra wieght and power going to efect the drivetrian components and the front torsen bar, will it be prone to sagging and will i allways be busting cv's and rear axels? I plan on running a small suspension lift + 2i body lift and 33's
is there anydiference in drivetrain bettween the early na/nb and the later model gen 1's?
or would i be better of purchasing one with a 2.6l and doing a bit of engine work.
cheers. sean.

I've not heard bad reports from any such conversions, and I know somebody who used to have one - but personally, I think I'd go the modified 2.6 route. Fewer hassles with rego and insurance.
They're a good, torquey motor (although not particularly fuel efficient), and the stock bottom end seems to cope with turbo jobs putting 200kW+ at the wheels - so I don't think strength is an issue.
If you're keen to do a complete rebuild, put Magna pistons and head into the RWD block (or just swap a few bits onto a Magna motor to make it fit) and throw the EFI system on top - there's heaps of good info (probably too much info) available on the 'net. Heaps of Magna bits available real cheap. (You might be able to just bolt the Magna head onto the Paj bottom end, but I'm not sure what compression ratio you'll end up with - could be a touch low.)
Another option would the the 4 cylinder 2.4i from later model Tritons - EFI & 4 valves, better power and economy. It's supposedly a straight-forward swap, but I don't know how much an engine would cost - I expect the Magna EFI route to be cheaper.

What he said ^....
But if the conversion is already done then get it! If any doubt about driveline - and you want to run 33's, just go the body lift and leave the suspension as it is - that way your cv angles are always running flat = good....

nice sounds good man, i know how capable these lil trucks r and that they put the big rigs to shame in places. so a dose of more power should make it even beter. hope to pick it up within 2 weeks,
