Depending on what you did, you probably don't need a full rebuild. At worst, pistons, conrods and valves, But you may as well give the bottom end a going over at the same time.

I am 99% sure fixing/rebuilding your tdi will be a lot cheaper than a v8 swap.

You will need your manifold and turbo - but you probably knew that...

the people im buying it off are fitting it so at least it will have some sort of guaranty that it runs .they wouldn't give me a quote so how long do think it would take to change over and what would be labor costs there abouts

different turbo, turbo manifold, timing/front cover, inlet manifold, positioning of alt, a/c cond, p/s pump.
but that gear should be in good nick if you only injested a small amount of water.
while the turbo manifold is off, have it drilled and tapped for a thermocouple to tune later.
as always have the rad rodded, dodgy l/r techs put a crossflow design in front of 200tdi's so muck settles inside tubes unable to be flushed/cleaned easily.
david.
ps my 200 blows more exhaust through the oil filler than the exhaust pipe atm. yes i'm going through the same process as you.

True...but I didn't get rid of one of the best diesels ever put into a Rover to replace it with a thirsty, sluggish little V8  :finger:

nothing wrong with 'little V8's' ! (it's my reverse analogy of the 'bigger is better' syndrome)
