Battery Arced out onto clamp now no go

Post by 4sum4 »

My battery came loose and arced out onto the clamp, the engine stalled straight away and would not start again and it wouldn`t clutch start either.
I towed it home and started checking things. the ignition lights would come on sometimes and when it does I would try to start the engine and nothing I lose all power. Ive checked the battery thats fine Ive checked the engine fuse thats fine and getting power to it. the relay is making funny noses somtimes and is getting power to it. what else should I check.
Its an 86 4runner petrol.

do you mean that it shorted on the body? if so your battery may be stuffed. just try another battery and see if the same thing happens.
how did you check the battery?
have you tryed putting the battery on charge?

You could have damaged your alternator and regulator too because the engine was running. Check to see if you've got fusible wires anywhere that have blown.
