Im getta a Zooks

just wondering what is the best yr and the cheapest way in making the zooks ready for the bush??

i do a fair bit of shooting so looking at a soft top.

any help will be appreciated

89 WT onwards best. also buying one and driving one is the cheapest way to get them out in the bush.

89-95 WT leafy... if the indicators are next to the headlights (round ones, part of the front grille) then its a coily... (and of course its got coil suspension).

89-95 is the best for your application as the front windscreen FOLDS down, perfect for night shooting where the head lights are needed :D

See i reckon narrow track.......

Got 32's on it and keeps up with the patrols on 35's ussually easyer then them and kills anything in the mud BECAUSE your in one rut out of the other! If you care about pannel damage go for a WT if you couldn't care go NT!

hopefully sunday i get my Zooks

its a stock 93 soft top.

what sizes wheels can i setup on it before i start having to lift it??

I will be getting a 2" suspension lift later on or should i get the lift done first then run 31's or higher

For a cheap and reliable shooting rig I'd go:

Bash wheelarch seams ................ free!
2" body lift ................................. $200 - PM just cruizin' from this forum
2" shackle extension ................... make 'em yourself or buy some - $200 fleebay
31x9.5's on 15x7's -15 offset ....... $1k+ if you buy new, or search the classifieds

That'd give you a capable bush basher that shouldn't break too often. Might need transfer gears if you're doing any serious 4wd'ing, but for general shooting work standard gearing should get you by.

If you're planning on a 2" suspension lift then forget the shackle extension but you will need to adjust the bumpstops to prevent the tyres hitting the guards on compression.

I'm not aware of anyone who makes 31x9.5 tyres... I thought they were all basically 31x10.5, and some are even 31x11.5. Can anyone enlighten me???

Sorry - you're right.

Available tyres are:

30x9.5 15's (eg lots)
31x10.5 15's (eg lots)
31x9.5 16's (eg Jungle Trekker 2)
32x9.5 15's (eg Extreme Trekker)

And for 10.5's most manufacturers (and tyre places) will require you to run 8" rims too if I recall correctly. So there's the choice of 30x9.5's with 15x7" rims (-15 offset) or 31x10.5's with 15x8" rims (-28 offset).
