Bad day for Rocky's

Post by RockyF75 »

Ok, I know of 3, including mine, who didn't make it home under their own power today

Any one else had theirs try to commit suicide on them? I think they have been talking or something, and picked now, to go on strike.

The toll so far:

2x Blown head gaskets
1x Colossal gearbox failure
60 + Turbo, 33"s

It was my gearbox  Transfer was replaced a few weeks ago

I think it's the input bearing... It was being noisy last week, and yesterday I lost drive and it started making a loud grinding noise.

Hope I get away with a new bearing or two... not a shaft or gear

I think it is shitty at me, as it found out I want to buy a V8 Ute :D Same with you Nath!!!

Now that you mention it.

Erik was looking at little buzz boxes on ebay when he was her last week for a DD. I reckon they got jealous.

On a serious, actually tech related subject: Both me and my mate went to the snow with our Rocky's. And about 2 weeks later on the same day, we both have the headgaskets blow rather severely (water gushing out of the overflow bottle). We both had anti-freeze in, but can the cold stuff it around? :?

Sounds like worn selector forks, when they get below their limit, they don't fully disengage the gear and the edges of the rounded teeth rub. Thats probably the grinding noise you are getting.

Mine happened on the 3rd/4th selector fork.
