Roof mounted lights, HIDs where to mount balast?

Post by ausyota »

Im setting up a set of 6 roof mounted lights for a night stage of a comp.
A couple of sets of these lights are HIDs. Im just wondering where other people have mounted the balasts?
Do I just bolt them to the bar exposed to the weather etc or cover them somehow?
I know the balasts are pretty waterproof, I have seen the video of bushy dunking his in water while the lights are running.
Paul.

mine are mounted behind the lights exposed, simply because I couldn't be bothered boxing them up... they seem to be fine dealing with the elements, for now atleast

can you wire them to sit under the passenger seat in the cab? that'd be a tidy place to put them that still has easy access =)

wow 500mm isnt far at all!

Perhaps some UV polycarb sheets to build a box for them on the roof then?

The Bosch housings are pretty robust and well sealed stock... but if your concerned then perhaps a thin smear of silicone over the case seams.
( usual disclaimers )

It seemed like a much better idea when I started it than it does now.
