quick question zook transfer

hey, been searching but cant find the thread im after so,

will a wt transfer (92) bolt straight into a 86 nt?
any difference in the gearing?

Transfer will bolt in but shaft flanges are different.
Gearing is same.

and you won't have a handbrake...

Flanges /handbrake can be swapped without disassembly though.

can i change over the flanges on the transfers or will i need tobuy some wt shafts?

Just swap the flanges. You will need to make a bar to stop the flange spinning - just a star picket or some scrap with a couple of holes in it, and a rattle gun.

thanks for the input guys. steve - i dont get what your saying about the handbrake, both cases have the drum on the end... but i guess ill find out tomorrow.

its got handbrake and 4wd light wiring, wrecker said it came out of a 92.
might go in easier than i thought

92 models have the handbrake on the rear diff, if theres a drum on the transfer it came out of a NT.


on the plus side, it will bolt in easier than if it was from a WT.

yeah bolting straight in sounds sweet. but in the future i want to do the gearing, and i think i read on here that ill need a wt case for that.

as long as its got the light switch it will accept gearing in the future

oh ok happy days, can rebuild my old one, and no down time! ...

threw it in today, had to swap jackshaft and front tailshaft flanges.
the oil in the old one looked like thick mettalic paint with chunks of gear in it.
the new one came complete with golden oil :armsup: hehe tightarse

car drives alot better, alot less sloppy, what a difference.
