TB42e petrol problems
TB42e petrol problems
Hi guys my TB42e is duel fuel and l have probs on fuel as it back fires through the throttle body when you give the pedal a quick rev and noticed on the weekend when the truck is facing up a hill it has a massive flat spot and will not rev.....
Can someone help me please.....

Possibly a hole in the intake hose between the air flow meter and throttle body, also may pay to check fuel pressure. Could even be an ignition problem, check plugs and leads, cap and rotor.
Beyond that it may need to be put on a dyno to see what its doing.
Cheers

Hey that was happening to my truck and I took it to a Nissan Dealer got a cumputer diagnostic and said that my Oxygen Sensor was not working.
Replaced it with a Bosch one and has stopped for good hopefully.
They said it was due to playing in the mud alot.
Hopefully that Helps!

Dont hold back, Limiter is there for a reason!!!

Had this same problem with a XF Falcon..
Turned out the Distributor was way out of timing and was running too retarded..
Check your timing make sure its around 10degrees on the GQ motor.
Just get a ignition timing lght with a warm engine and check the reference to no:1 cylinder.
This would also explane the lack of power.
Also 320 on 90 litres of Gas is quite the average I get for a around town trip.. and I can lead foot it sometimes.
I have no idea how you were getting 420...
"32inch tyres"

l run the standard 16 inch tyres and can get 420 in and around town....
33 " tyres with half tread 390klm
35" tyres with full tread l was getting 350-360 now lucky to get 300klm....
not sure why it's changed so much on gas.....
The other thing l have changed is that on the efi models they drill holes in the pipe that goes in between the gas mixer and throttle body, l had a stubby holder over the holes to protect from the dust which wore out a couple of weeks ago so l put 2 stubby holders over the pipe....do you think that may have contributed to this problem......

if the problem lies there it would be due to an intake leak, grab a can of start ya bastard or aero start and spray it around places on the intake/engine where you think there could be a leak, if theres a leak and the engine draws in some of the spray then revs will increase.
mine also has the dodgy stubby cooler style thing on the intake, i hate it, but dont know if i can safely remove it.
this is how i found the leaking inlet manifold gasket.
my patrol runs absolutely shithouse on petrol but fine on gas, dunno if its fuel, spark or a leak yet, it could possibly be the air flow meter as it usually runs fine for 5 minutes after cleaning it with carby cleaner.
