what is a "mag duel solenoid" (for GQ factory lock

Post by patrolla »

hi
just wondering what this thing is. i've been told this will make the activation/deactivation of my factory locker more responsive. currently, it can take over 100km of driving before the locker deactivates which is NOT GOOD!
anyone know what it is and where to get one and how to replace it?

Dunno about the one you've named but there have been a few threads on installing gruntier solenoids for the job. Search will find them.

The factory locker is activated by vacum. The solenoid is just a switch that allows vacum to locker to pull the diaphram to engage or disengage the locker.
I use Toyota solenoids for a Hilux Surf. The ones for the front drive disengage as they are very reliable and there are a lot of them around.

Changing the solenoids won't make any difference to the locker coming in or out as it is the vacum that does it. You can use a tap if you want as long as you control vacum.

I've used this one and never looked back. Works all the time.
