Fan controls - 91 Cruiser troopy

Post by JD »

I'm from the daihatsu board and need some help please. Fan has stopped and need to locate the electrics that need to be replaced, they are not in the dash near the switch, already had a look.

does the fan work at all? ie does it work on some speeds, only on full speed, or not at any speed?

first check the fuse, duh ;)

then check the fan resistor pack, it is in the bottom of the fan housing, it is a matchbox sized block with 4 wires (blue and black from memory), held in with 2 screws, it is shaped like a rectangle with the corners cut off, with the plug for the wires in the middle.

if the resistors are bad the fan will work on some speeds but not others, if all the resistors are bad it will only work on full speed.

hope this helps

cheers

Turned out the fan is cactus (no brush's left), as well as the controller (main coil broken).
Off to the wreckers now.
Thanks for the input Brian.
