Cardinal joint rebuild
Anybody else done this?
How much is the bearing in the middle and is it just a ball with needles inside it?
Oh and did you (that have done it) have trouble getting it apart? Man what a Cookie of a job But now that I have pulled one apart it would be much easier if and when I ever have to do it again.
I think this is what was making the BAD clunking I had when in 4x4. I pulled rear shaft out and put front on stands and got the wife to sit in the lux with her foot on the break while it was idealing in 1st low. Every time it went clunk the joint would jump, but it was hard to tell if the noise was from the joint or from the t case. Anyway I`ll soon know when I put it back together and put it back in the lux.

Go a square shaft in the front. It's only when it STOPS clunking that you have a problem

Agreed. I'll eventually change back to a standard shaft but it's a great temporary solution.

That would be double Hooke's joint. The joint was invented by Girolamo Cardano in Italy, and first put into practice by Robert Hooke in the UK.
