Hilux engine options

Looking at engine options for my hilux as the current 22r is getting a bit tired. Thinking of doing a toyota 3rz or holden V6 just want some feedback on what would be a good reliabe conversion, common problems if any and a idea of cost. Any help much appreciated thanks.
92 hilux s/c, 33" Mickey T MTZ, 2" susp, 2" shackles, spool rear

if your sticking with manual, from what i have heard, go the 3rz option, as theres parts a plenty, reliable, and fairly cheap conversion.

commo conversion adds up

go 2rz 2.7 lt goes hard super reliable and doesnt drink like a fish
ask greg and dave from dgr racing about it

i put a 7mge in mine am very happy only cost about $1200 all up including buying the motor and replacing the head gasket. i did it all myself which helped cut down the cost.

a commo engine transplant was going to cost more than this before i started.

cheers thanks for the advice, i was leaning more towards the 3rz to stick with a toyota motor for the reliability factor

Yeah I say there is only 2 conversions worth doing.
Either an injected V8 (some of us just wouldn`t be happy with anything but)
Or
The 3rz, once you take in cost, work load and power increase, it is very hard to go passed.

If you're going to all the trouble of putting in a commonwhore motor, why not go that little bit further and go the 1UZ-FE?

go for a 1jzgte supra engine. good on juice and smooth as silk. i have one in mine and it will flog almost anything. cheers darin

yeh m8 ive just done a 3rz conversion into my 93 single cab, goews like a rocket, smokes some ricer cars at macca nats on thurs nights lol and is tourqeeee as off road, easy to get plated and all dooable at home! Is there a better option, nfw...

Agreed... even better 2jzte... only I don't know how anybody fits them in, but what a weapon they must be.
I reckon a 3rz with turbo, forged rods and a/market computer would be better all round conversion.

pics and write up arent really needed, its straight forward and once u get all ur bits together ull work out how it goes together pretty quick!

Was just really interested in replacing the mounting positions and how things fitted in general, like stuff that needed moving, new parts etc.
Theres a fair bit of info on it already on here just interested in pics tis all. Thx.
