Fan shroud for V8 conversion

Post by CanberraMav »

Gday all,

I have a 351c in my 60 series and the 2 thermo fans arn't up to the task of cooling.

I want to go back to the engine fan and i dont have a shroud for it.

What have people used for a fan shroud?

Can something from another model car be easily adapted?

Thanks

Ive got 2 x 12 inch thermos on there at the moment.

They are fine around town and everything but when i was pulling the car trailer i had to pull over a few times to get the temps down.

Sheet steel can work well, or aluminium sheet.
Not sure what other material you could use.

I keep a 16" thermo in front of mine for the slow stuff too.

Cheers

I was kind of trying to find out if anyone has found a shroud from another vehicle that was able to be adapted fairly easy to the cruiser.

I dont really have access to the tools to make it out of sheet metal.

You guys that run the thermo for low speeds...is this for low RPM and traffic?

Does it make much difference?

I would have though the thermo would act as a restriction for the engine fan?

Sorry don't know of suitable shroud.

The low speed fan does help on hot days in traffic, but it's main use is when lo ranging, especially if long climbs are involved.
