hey guys, im looking at buying a tbi "kit" for the zook and was wondering how hard it is to install? do i need to make any mounts up for any of the sensors such as crank angle sensor or is there just somewhere that it bolts to?
any help would be great.

tbi systems are pretty easy to install, just remember depending on what state you are in they may not be legal.

because it wasn't available on an australian spec vehicle (if its 8 vale 1.3 or 1.6 we're talking about). you can try to pass it by doing a particle test with the epa but when you find out what they charge you'll have a heart attack.

The acutal install is almost bolt on, the manifold etc fits straight on to the head, just make up a fuel pump blanking plate to cover the unused fuel pump port. The wiring is straight forward too, you just put power to the computer, run the wires, plug them in. Run your starter enrichment sensing wire, then rig some relays for the fuel pump and computer. A few fuses so you dont cook it. Setup a fuel pump system, with a high pressure pump and lift pump (surge tank if you want) or fit a late model coiler tank with a swimmer style pump. Turn key and drive onto your side knowing your motor wont stop
There is no crank angle sensor, the ignition feed is from the coil negative/tacho feed. TBI doesnt really need to know what cylinder is firing as it only has one injector situated above the throttle plate.

Its basically just the TBI of a 1.6 swift, or geo tracker/sidekick/vitara/metro or 1.3L samurai from the states. Check MART's build thread for pics. Can be obtained from wreckers, or keep your eyes open on this and other boards. I got my setup of a member here for $450+postage, and others have got them from here, or from Ebay etc.

ive got the computer and harness and im marking all the wires as i find them on the schematic but was just wondering what the green plug is for?
there are 2 yellow ones which i have sorted but just dont know about the green...any help would be great!!!

where and how do people mount their electric fuel pump?
i was told that i dont need an ignitor and that the wires just go strait to the coil? is this true, if so which side?
and how important is the resistor for the injector? as it didnt come with everything i got so i might have to go and get it?

So the MH Barina and the swift TBI works no problems as i could probably get a smashed one for stuff all and then have all the wiring and spare motr/parts with it.
Is it worth buying the whole car that way you can use the pump and Maybe maybe modify fuel tank to fit with an efi pump(which it should have)????

Bit of a grave dig sorry... anyone know what year Swifts / Barinas have TBI? Have been looking through RedBook but all the injected 1.6's are listed on there as MPFI.
Have scored an 8V Sidekick manifold + throttle body from Santos and am presuming the 1.6L Swift TBI computer will run it okay?? Trying to get away with a cheaper / easier solution than an aftermarket ECU...

ea falcon tbi with a delco computer from a camira and get an efi place to tune it that is the cheap way and it bolts to most webber carby mounts

the later ones were balenos, relatively not that common either
and i would say that the fuel map would work but would be completely wrong if you really want to go down this path a mazda 121 bubble were 1.3l and has a 6000rpm redline, probably cheaper to source (and the plus sid is if you retro fit the mazda sensors onto the suzuki intakebody you will have cheap spare part)

the 1.6 16 valve swift sedan was the only tbi equipped swift (not opel built swifts), and only offered for about 3 years. as far as i know all balenos were mpfi.

If I can get hold of an 8V 1.6L Sidekick (Vitara) ECU out of the states, is this likely to be a goer on the 1.3L?
I hear you re aftermarket being the best solution Santos - it's just pretty expensive (which I can get over if I have to) and relatively complex. I'm not keen on paying big bucks for it to be dyno tuned or anything stupid - it's a Sierra after all!

I never dyno tuned mine, just wide band road tune. After all, it is a sierra

Is that so? Will the falcon tbi fit on top of the zook manifold and still be able to close the bonnet? Have you done this before? I have a weber adapter for the zook already and falcon parts are cheap as cheezels! Have been having a bit of a dig and had a brain fart today, will the G13BB head bolt up to the G13A block, effectively giving me 1.3 MPFI ?
I will eventually be doing a G16 block and G13BB head conversion, just wanted to get rid of the carby first and then go the 1.6 later
