Hilux Suspension
Hey all,
Am looking at upgrading my suspension due to the needed lift and sag.. I have a 2.4D hilux LN65.... It has a SOA done recently.. Was looking at getting EFS front and rear 2 inch lifted springs.. Do these flex well?? am not looking at carrying a heavy load... Was also planning on runnin 2 inch extended shackles... Was planning on running 35s or 36s off road...
Cheers
Dan

hey mate, to run the 35's and 36's i think youll find u need to move the front diff forward so the tyres clear the front inner guards and fire wall. and yeh they are standard SOA. Ive heard efs are pretty good it all depends on the spring rate as well, soft spring rate is better for flex but crap for load carrying, there is no point getting extended shackles unless you make them work, they are pointless so im told unless you can get good angles out of them. and to do this you need longer springs (like rears up front) i think. Someone please correct me if im wrong however.
have u thought about gears, diff ratios, and also u will need driveshaft extension if u move diff forward. Another question is will the 2.4 handle the 35's. i run a 2.4 with 33s and mine struggles to push shit up hill with the 33s.
just some thoughts for ya. plenty of ppl on here no more stuff than me so keep asking around.

A mate of mine was running 36s with a body lift and extended shackles in his 2.4D single cab.. It was a comp rig though... When the money allows me Im going to turbo it... Im gonna change the diff ratios from 4.56 to 5.29 if they fit... Then prob put some crawler gears in... ARB locker up front with a tightened LSD rear... The 2.4 as is with 33's, leaves my old pajero for dead on the flat as well.... My pajero was a 2.3TD SWB with 33's....

got my rear lsd shimmed tight as and is nothing like a locker i would put 2 lockers in
You would definitely have to move the diff forward. With a 2" body and 2" suspension my 33" tyres rub at full flex and that is after a good massage job with the hammer. Will be moving the diff forward soon.BENOLUX wrote:yeh i was going to say, go lockers front and rear mate, and yeh i have a body lift with 33s no suspension work yet and i could probably just fit 35s with sus lift but i think to get good flex and miss the guards moving the diff forward could be the way to go. just depends wat u want the truck for

just one more thing, you probably won't have the power to do it, but with the bigger tyres its a possibility. You'll have to watch axle rap or axle tramp or what ever they call it, it when your axle twists and and tries to twist the leaf with it thus either breakin the leaf or wrecking them. it can break leafs especially if theres not many leafs left in the pack. correct me if i'm rong i think thats right. i run 33's on my 2.8 td hilux with 2 inch standard weight rear leafs, and you can see it when i take off but i not game to take leafs out. i'd recomend getting a ladder bar or rear torque bar that snake racing and supperior engineering have out. if you want a longer leaf either go custom or get teh rear leafs out of a ifs hilux their a bit longer with extended shackles would be the go. standard 2 inch fronts flex pretty good. also try and do a rear shock inversion kit, to get a longer shock., although i think ur model already has the shocks coming up towards teh centre on the rear cross member, so just go some longer shocks i'd go probably 4 inch longer shocks if your carring no load they'd give awsome down ward travel, i reckon.

this i my beam axel surf with reset LN106 leafs approx 100mm lift longest shocks i could find with out bracking the bank. has good flex and after getting the hammer onto the guards 33s dont rub at all but would not fit 35s with out body lift aswell or moving front diff forwed im planing to do both
