Hey Chris, check out widetread in ferntree gully. relatively close to your location and last time I was in there they had Couragias for $165 in 31". That was over a year ago though.

I'm going there tomorrow, but to the Lilydale store, that's where I got me Mongrels from.
I'll chuff over to ftg as well if needed, cheers.

I think import duties and/or aussie dollar fluctuations may have stuffed the good prices.

Today I went to another local tyre joint.
Nankangs $156.... a bit better.
Maxxis $210
Federal.... no info found.
Westlake $156 (never heard of these, he thinks they made in China)

Then I went to Widetread in Lilydale
(they treated me good in the past)
Federal Couragia mt $180 each
Thats winning so far.
They were cheaper, but Aussie dollar etc etc etc
Its a good set up there, as I can see, feel, and smell all the tyres on show, rather than look in a book.

I found most places won't sell retreads.
2nd hand in mudders is usually well worn out.

I been shopping.
$!79 each, fitted and balanced, and they spent a fair while cleaning and de rustin the rims
No complaints from them, or me, good service.

On the short trip home, I was very happy with the dry road handling, and they are a fair bit quieter, and softer, than the Mongrels, even with my new ears on
Of course time will be the true test.
They do have good tread depth, but the wear mark indicator is much taller the the Mongrel ones.
I've lost about 0.4 inches in diameter, compared to Mongrels, but the gearing gain is nice. This only means a 0.2inch loss of ground clearance, tho.
Can't wait to get front ones, but will have to, unless I sell my grandma.

From Wide Tread in Lilydale. Same place I got me Mongrels.
I'm liking the service and prices I get there.
Apparently FTG has 1 set of Mongrels left.
But I need something more suited to longer distance trips now.
(I'm avoiding the word "softer")

I bought a set of 285 x 75 x 16's when they first came out over here purely based on the price at the time.. And I have to say they are a great tyre I daily drove them for well over a year on a GQ wagon and the wear was good and they were great in the mud... I heard theyre ony coming as big as 31's now tho... Anyways pretty good value even for a big truck...

I hope they do last, as I'll be living on bread and water, for a while, to pay fer them
