hilux body

Post by dans-paj92 »

hey all,
I was wondering will a 1990's series HiLux body fit on a 1985 chassis??? This being the body on the '85 is rusted out but the chassis and drivetrain is in perfect running order... Was going to part the HiLux out for aonther project car but was told will be easier to buy a new body for the HiLux... I was thinking of putting a dual cab or extra cab onto the chassis... The '85 HiLux is a single cab... Does this matter??? I was told that a Dual cab '90s body should just bolt straight on?? Is this the case??
Cheers Dan.

I was plannin to run with the dual cab and make a tray for it... I was told the only thing was that the front body mounts may need to be re-drilled.... where would I find a dual cab body in NSW?? wreckers???

The 4 front body mounts are all the same but all the rest are staggered different. easy to chop and move though. the x-cabs in the 89 model and up have a longer chassis.

we have put an 86 xtra cab body on a single cab 86 chassis. we had to use cab mounts off another chassis for the rear of the cab but no probs at all. we also should be picking up another 86 xtra cab 2wd this weekend that we wont be using the cab off. so it will be for sale if anyone is interested. we are on the sunshine coast.
only the first roll hurts, then its a ride..

the 4 front mounts are the same for single / dual / x-cab 4 runner. the rear most mounts will need to be moved / fabricated.

4 runner has 10 mounts
single cab has 6 mounts
dual cab has 8 mounts
x-cab has 8 mounts

How hard would it be to stick a 4 runner body on an extra cab chassie? My tub is fairly rusted out but the cabin is good.. would like the 2nd row of seats though.
