Winch with no guts?!

Post by Buggerific »

Howdy,

So I got the winch going... Cable now goes in and out but it has no guts. It will pull the car across the flat but as soon as you introduce a slight hill it just cant do it.

It's hydraulic so I'm thinking it would either be the power steering pump or the winch needs a good service?

sounds like a worn out pump or motor.

The wear causes internal bypass, thus gives much less effort.

As a test, use the winch and load it right up for a while, then feel the winch motor and the hyd pto pump. Which ever one is the hottest is where the most bypass is.

That will narrow it down for you.
